Helldivers 2’s Patch 01.001.100 was a broad September 17, 2024 rebalance—not just a weapons update. It changed armor penetration, anti-tank interactions, enemy armor and health, weapons, stratagems, and Helldiver damage mechanics. It also reworked gas effects, added an emote wheel, and let the Galactic War map show strategically important assets. These are historical patch notes, not evidence of the game’s current balance or feature behavior.
What Patch 01.001.100 set out to change
The developers’ stated aim was to make a wider range of tools viable and give players more ways to approach challenges. The notes describe players feeling constrained by a small set of effective options, while other equipment seemed less useful. They framed the changes as a way to improve the performance of weapons such as the Autocannon, Heavy Machine Gun, Flamethrower, and Anti-Materiel Rifle against heavily armored enemies, while preserving specialized anti-tank weapons for their intended role. IGN dated the update to September 17, 2024, describing it as a weapons overhaul for the PC and PlayStation 5 co-op shooter. IGN’s coverage and GGRecon’s patch coverage also identify that date.
How extensive was the rebalance?
The reproduced notes characterize Patch 01.001.100 as an overhaul spanning several connected systems, rather than a simple list of weapon buffs. The patch-note reproduction groups its changes around:

Because the changes touched both sides of combat—player damage tools and enemy durability—the notes’ scope should not be reduced to “weapons got stronger.” Individual weapon values and interactions belong to the exact patch context; they do not establish performance in later versions.
What was new on the Galactic War map?
The map gained the ability to display the locations of strategically important assets, giving players additional information to consider when choosing where to act. What else did the update add or rework?
Gas became more about crowd control
The notes describe changing gas to blind and confuse enemies and Helldivers while reducing its damage over time. That shifts the stated emphasis toward disruption, but the patch description is not a guide to gas’s present-day effects.
An emote wheel offered access to multiple emotes
Players could equip up to four emotes in the armory and access them while holding the emote button, according to the reproduced notes. This describes the feature as introduced in Patch 01.001.100; current controls or availability are not established here.
