To add someone on the EA app, open the app on PC or Mac, select Add friend beneath your avatar, then search for their display name, EA ID, real name, or email address and select Add beside the right result. You can also import contacts from Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation. If you want to play together, you may need to add the person in the game’s social menu as well.
How to add someone in the EA app
- Launch the EA app on your PC or Mac.
- Select Add friend beneath your avatar.
- Choose Find friends and enter the person’s display name, EA ID, real name, or email address. To look for contacts from another platform, choose Import friends instead.
- Find the correct person in the results and select Add.

Search for a friend or import contacts
Search by name or EA ID
Use Find friends to search by display name, EA ID, real name, or email address. Check the results carefully if several people have similar names before sending a request.
Import from another platform
Choose Import friends to find contacts from Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation. The app may offer to link a platform account that is not already linked to your EA Account. Importing contacts is distinct from searching for someone directly by EA ID.

App friends and in-game friends are not always the same
An EA app friendship does not necessarily add someone to a game’s own friend list. EA explains that app friendships connect players through their EA IDs, but the in-game relationship can be separate. If the person does not appear in the game or you cannot invite them, check that game’s social menu or its EA Connect features.
Add a friend through EA Connect
In a game that supports EA Connect, the documented route is to open EA Connect, go to Player search, enter an EA ID or platform username, select the player, then choose Add friend. The EA Connect icon’s location and available features vary by game, so use the specific title’s menu and help information. EA lists titles across Battlefield, EA SPORTS College Football, EA SPORTS FC, FIFA, EA SPORTS Madden NFL, and EA SPORTS NHL among games with EA Connect; support and rules can differ by title and mode. What to check if you cannot add or invite someone
- Private profile: If your search or request does not work, ask the other player to send you a friend request instead.
- Account linking: Confirm the EA Account is linked to the relevant console or platform account.
- Cross-play: Check that cross-play is enabled for both players and supported by the game mode. EA Connect lobbies may not allow players to join when either person has cross-play disabled or the mode does not support it.
- Connection or app issue: Check your internet connection, restart the EA app, and install any available app update.
- Game-specific rules: Features and restrictions differ by game; not every title has every EA Connect feature.
