At Minecraft’s standard day-and-night cycle, 1,000 in-game days take 333 hours and 20 minutes in real time—that is, 13 days, 21 hours, and 20 minutes of uninterrupted cycle time. The familiar conversion is 20 real-time minutes per Minecraft day, as stated by Minecraft Education’s lesson plan.
How the 1,000-day calculation works
-
One standard Minecraft day lasts 20 real-time minutes, according to the Minecraft Wiki’s time-units reference and Minecraft Education.
-
Multiply 1,000 days by 20 minutes: 1,000 × 20 = 20,000 minutes.
-
Convert 20,000 minutes into hours: 20,000 ÷ 60 = 333 hours, with 20 minutes remaining.

Convert the hours into days: 333 hours and 20 minutes equals 13 days, 21 hours, and 20 minutes.
Why your actual elapsed time may differ
The result describes time spent while the standard day-and-night cycle is running; it is not a guarantee that every player’s wall clock will measure exactly that span. The time-units reference expresses the conversion using a steady rate of 20 game ticks per real-life second: a Minecraft day is 24,000 ticks at that rate. Lag can disrupt that assumption. In Java single-player, the daylight cycle also pauses when the game is paused, as described in the daylight cycle reference. Changes to the cycle or game behavior can likewise make elapsed time differ from the simple calculation.

“Day” in a time command is not a full day
Bedrock command time labels can be easy to confuse with elapsed-day counts. Microsoft’s time command argument documentation lists day as 1,000 ticks, alongside time-of-day values such as noon at 6,000 ticks, sunset at 12,000, and midnight at 18,000. These are settings for positions in the time-of-day cycle, not 1,000 complete Minecraft days.
