Battle actions build points that move him from Rank D up to Rank S; higher ranks increase his damage, and some skills gain rank-specific effects or lower AP costs. Taking a hit or dying can reduce his rank, so building Perfection is only half the job—you also need to protect it.
How Perfection points and ranks work
Verso starts at Rank D. Actions in battle generate Perfection points, and reaching thresholds advances him through Ranks C, B, A, and S. The Gamer Guides Verso guide reports these thresholds and damage multipliers; they are guide-reported gameplay values, not figures established by official documentation. Its page lists an update date of January 10, 2026.

According to the Gamer Guides Verso guide, a Base Attack, Free Aim shot, skill, dodge, parry, counter, or successful QTE awards a point. Multi-hit skills can therefore generate several actions in one turn. The guide also says a successful defense helps protect Verso’s current rank.
What raises or lowers Verso’s rank
Build points through battle actions
Use attacks, Free Aim, skills, and successful QTEs to accumulate points. Dodges, parries, and counters also count, so defensive play can contribute to advancement rather than simply preserving the rank you already have.

Protect the rank you have earned
The guide reports that taking a hit or dying can lower Perfection. It also says the rank cannot drop by more than one level during a single enemy turn. That makes avoiding or countering incoming attacks important: losing a rank reduces the damage benefit associated with the higher rank.
Why Perfection changes skill choices
Perfection is not only a general damage bonus. Some skills have rank-dependent effects or costs. For example, the Follow Up skill listing gives a normal cost of 5 AP and a cost of 2 AP at Rank S. The Verso guide also lists Light Holder as a skill that grants a rank after its QTEs, alongside other rank-specific modifiers.

In practical terms, the mechanic rewards a loop: build points with actions, defend well enough to retain the rank, then use a rank-sensitive skill when its improved effect or lower cost is useful. That is a way to understand the reported mechanics, not a guarantee that one particular build or rotation is best for every fight.
How to aim for Rank S with Verso
- Keep taking actions that generate Perfection. Attacks, Free Aim, skills, and successful QTEs are among the point-generating actions listed by the guide.
- Use multi-hit actions when they fit the situation. The guide notes that multiple hits can mean multiple actions in one turn, helping build points.
- Defend actively. Dodges, parries, and counters can build points, while avoiding a hit helps prevent rank loss.
- Spend rank-sensitive skills with their conditions in mind. Follow Up’s listed AP cost is lower at Rank S, so its value and timing can differ once Verso reaches that rank.
Gamer Guides reports that Rank S begins at 30 points and carries a 3.0× damage multiplier. Treat those exact figures as guide-reported values; the available official documentation does not establish them here. The game’s exact current patch version was not established, so balance details could differ by version.

What Perfection means for builds
There is no established universally best Verso setup in the cited material. To compare options, consider how quickly they generate points, how reliably Verso can avoid damage, what payoff a skill receives at a higher rank, and whether its AP cost changes. The listed mechanics support these as useful decision factors, but do not prove that one combination is optimal across encounters.
