If Zach will not share the fuller story, pass his dialogue check or help him with the dispute that starts the side quest “Rattled.” This is an optional lead in “All that Glisters”: the quicksilver investigation can let you move on without finishing the copper objective.
How to uncover the copper lead
-
Talk to Blacksmith Mikesh and Armourer Ota Rabstein in Sasau. Ask about the other smiths in town; they identify Zach, who works near the monastery. The community-maintained quest guide describes this as the route to discover who works with copper.
-
Go to the monastery smithy and confront Zach about the copper sheets. He is the person the Sasau smiths point you to.
-
If Zach does not disclose the information you need, try the relevant dialogue skill check or agree to help with his feud with Master Ota. Accepting his request starts “Rattled,” which offers another route to further information.

Can you skip the copper investigation?
Yes. “All that Glisters” has a separate quicksilver lead involving the Overseer’s Hand. PowerPyx’s walkthrough says that completing the quicksilver investigation can make the copper objective unnecessary. If Zach’s conversation is not progressing the quest, check whether the quicksilver lead is available and pursue it instead.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why might the copper objective stay active?
Player discussions include reports of the objective remaining active after speaking with Zach, but those accounts are anecdotal and do not establish a universal bug or a reliable fix. The Steam discussion reports are not enough to confirm that the feud with Ota completes the copper objective by itself; the walkthrough route is tied to getting information from Zach. If the objective remains unresolved, the supported alternative is to continue the quicksilver investigation.
