Undertale never explains how Sans got his Blaster. The attack’s internal name, spr_gasterblaster, points toward Gaster, but it does not prove he created the weapon or gave it to Sans. A line from Papyrus offers another possible clue, though the game never confirms that his missing special attack is the same thing.
What Undertale shows about Sans’s Blaster
Sans uses Blaster attacks during his Genocide Route boss battle. They fire at the protagonist in barrages, and the fight ends with Blasters circling the bullet board and shooting toward its center. The battle establishes that Sans can use them; it does not show where they came from. Undertale Wiki’s account of the fight and attack describes the sequence.
Why the name suggests Gaster—but proves little
The attack is reportedly labeled spr_gasterblaster in the game’s internal data. That name is a reason fans associate the weapon with W.D. Gaster, but an internal label is not an explanation of its history. It does not establish that Gaster invented the Blaster, owned it, or passed it to Sans. The Undertale Wiki’s account of the attack data identifies the label without establishing an origin.
Gaster’s hidden material identifies him as a former Royal Scientist, but the accounts about his disappearance differ: one says he fell into his creation, another describes experiments going wrong, and another says he shattered across time and space. None documents a connection to Sans as a student, colleague, or recipient of a weapon. The Undertale Wiki’s overview of W.D. Gaster covers those accounts.

Could Papyrus’s “SPECIAL ATTACK” be the same weapon?
There is a suggestive line, but no confirmation. In the cited account of an aborted Genocide Route after Papyrus is spared, Papyrus refers to his missing “SPECIAL ATTACK” and says he would have “BLASTED” the protagonist. The wording makes a connection to Sans’s Blasters plausible, but the game does not identify Papyrus’s attack as one of them or explain any transfer between the brothers. The Undertale Wiki’s account of the dialogue presents it as a possible clue, not a settled answer.
What the popular origin theories require
There are no confirmed origin options to compare. Each specific explanation adds an event the game does not state:

- A Good Smile Company import
- From the popular video game Undertale
- Three interchangeable face plates included
- Swappable eyebrow parts also included for multiple expressions
- Optional parts include a plate of spaghetti and a blue bone
- Gaster built or gave Sans the Blasters: the internal name supports an association, but no cited in-game account shows Gaster making or handing over the weapon.
- Sans inherited Papyrus’s special attack: Papyrus’s “BLASTED” line is suggestive, but the game never says his missing attack was a Blaster or that Sans took it.
- Sans acquired them another way: possible, but no acquisition event is shown or explained.
These ideas can be discussed as fan theories, not confirmed lore. The hidden story around Gaster does not fill in the missing link to Sans’s equipment.

No. The Undertale Wiki references an official Blaster Pin, but a collectible is not evidence about the weapon’s fictional origin. The same source notes that Toby Fox has described Undertale merchandise as non-canon generally; merchandise should not be used to settle this lore question. The W.D. Gaster page discusses that merchandise context.

Has Toby Fox explained where Sans got it?
The cited Toby Fox and Fangamer interview with Gigi includes recollections about playtesting and the Sans fight, but it does not explain the Blaster’s origin. No direct authoritative statement in the cited material resolves how Sans acquired it.
