In Botania, produce mana with a Generating Flora flower, then transfer it through a Mana Spreader into a Mana Pool. Feed the flower its required input, connect the spreader to the pool, and keep the mana route short and clear. Endoflame and Hydroangeas are simple starting options described in the official Lexica.
What you need to make mana
The basic mana system has three parts: a Generating Flora flower creates mana, a Mana Spreader transfers it, and a Mana Pool stores it for later use. The official Lexica Botania describes Generating Flora as the flowers used to create mana.
How to set up a flower and fill a Mana Pool
- Place a generating flower near a Mana Spreader. Generating flowers hold a small internal mana buffer and normally bind to the nearest spreader when placed.
- Place a Mana Pool within the spreader’s line of fire. A spreader has a facing direction when placed. Use the Wand of the Forest to aim it or bind it to the intended receiver.
- Bind or correct connections if needed. Use the Wand of the Forest in Bind Mode to connect a flower to the intended spreader. Use it to bind the spreader to the Mana Pool if the target is wrong.
- Provide the flower’s input. For example, feed an Endoflame burnable fuel, or place still water sources near a Hydroangeas.
- Check that the pool can accept mana. The spreader fires bursts while its target has room. Keep the path short and unobstructed: bursts lose mana after traveling for a period, and a redstone signal pauses a spreader.
Once the flower converts its input, mana moves into its internal buffer and is sent toward the bound spreader. The spreader then fires mana bursts at its receiver. If the pool is full, it cannot accept more, so generation and transfer will not fill it further.
Which mana-generating flower should you choose?

There is no single best flower for every build. Choose based on the input you can provide, how much automation or maintenance you want, and whether the flower’s feeding and decay behavior suits your setup. The Lexica does not give one universal mana-production rate.

How mana reaches other Botania devices
A Mana Pool stores mana, and other Botania devices use it according to their function. Functional Flora draw mana from a nearby Mana Pool rather than receiving it directly from a Mana Spreader. If a functional flower is not working, check that it is near a pool with mana available.
