To sell cargo in Star Citizen, take tradeable commodities to a location whose commodity terminal accepts them, land legally, then select the cargo and confirm the sale. Unrefined mined ore must go to a refinery, while freight from a hauling contract must be delivered through that mission’s freight-elevator objectives—not sold as ordinary goods.
Where do you sell cargo in Star Citizen?
Sell ordinary tradeable commodities at a commodity terminal that accepts the item. The exact destination depends on the cargo: the official RSI Commodities guide does not provide an exhaustive current list of which terminals accept every commodity, so check the available options at your chosen location in the live game.
Before opening the trade interface, land legally. RSI notes that your ship will not appear in the terminal if you have not landed legally. Then use the terminal’s available trade options to choose the cargo and quantity, and confirm the sale.
First, identify what kind of cargo you have
Tradeable commodities
Goods intended for trading or processing can be sold at a compatible commodity terminal. For hand-collected gems, RSI says they are ready to trade; check the local terminal’s options to confirm it accepts the item.

Unrefined mined ore
Unrefined ore is not sold at regular commodity terminals. Take it to a refinery for processing instead. Refineries are less common than ordinary trade terminals, but RSI says they can be found at major spaceports and stations.
Hauling-contract freight
Cargo assigned to a hauling contract is mission freight, not ordinary trade goods for resale. Deliver it to the contract destination’s freight elevator and complete the contract’s objectives. The community-maintained Star Citizen Wiki hauling guide describes retrieving freight from a hangar elevator, loading it onto your ship with a Multi-Tool or MaxLift Tractor Beam, and unloading it at the destination freight elevator. RSI’s Alpha 3.24.0 patch notes explain that the mission completes when all delivery objectives are finished.

How to sell ordinary cargo
- Check the cargo. Confirm that it is a tradeable commodity rather than unrefined ore or freight assigned to an active contract.
- Choose a suitable destination. Find a commodity terminal that lists the item you want to sell. Do not assume every terminal accepts every commodity.
- Transport and land legally. Use a suitable cargo ship and plan the route. Most vehicles have SCU cargo grids; ships designed for specific roles may have dedicated storage, such as the Prospector’s ore saddle bags.
- Open the commodity terminal. Your ship must be legally landed for it to appear in the terminal.
- Select cargo and confirm. Choose the item and available quantity shown by the live trade interface, then complete the sale.
How to deliver cargo from a hauling contract
- Retrieve the assigned freight from the hangar freight elevator.
- Load it onto your ship using an in-game tractor tool, such as a Multi-Tool or MaxLift Tractor Beam.
- Fly to the destination specified by the active contract.
- Unload the freight at the destination freight elevator so the freight terminal can collect it for the mission.
- Finish or submit the contract through its mission flow after its delivery objectives are complete.
Why cargo may not appear for sale
- Your ship is missing from the commodity terminal: check that you landed legally; legal landing is required for the ship to appear.
- Unrefined ore is missing from trade options: take it to a refinery for processing rather than a regular commodity terminal.
- Contract freight is not available to sell: deliver it through the active hauling contract’s freight-elevator flow and complete its objectives.
- The item or destination is unclear: check the live terminal options. The available official guidance does not establish a complete, current commodity-to-terminal list or live demand information.
