Where to find Azarian
Follow The City of Seven Waters into Buried Shrines and explore until you reach the boss. Game8 places the encounter in the Vestibule; the PoE2 Wiki describes Azarian in the shrine’s main chamber. How to respond to Azarian’s attacks
The attack names and descriptions below are reported by Game8 and the PoE2 Wiki; they are not claims of independent testing. The practical approach is to watch for each wind-up, move out of its path, and take your opening after the attack resolves.
Fire wave (Heat Wave)
Game8 describes Azarian bringing his weapons together to send out a fire wave. The Wiki lists a related attack called Heat Wave and describes it as fast and medium-range. Dodge across the wave’s line—sideways or toward Azarian—instead of retreating straight ahead of it. Game8; PoE2 Wiki.
Charged weapon slam
Game8 warns that the large forward slam creates an explosion and says not to try to dodge-roll through it. Move out of the forward danger area early and wait for the impact before closing in again. Game8’s guide.
Fire Dance, Flame Burst, and Fire Throw
The Wiki describes Fire Dance as a spin followed by a run toward the player, Flame Burst as a forward cone of fire, and Fire Throw as a fireball that leaves a trail and explodes on landing. Keep enough room to move, avoid standing directly in front of Azarian while he winds up, and attack once the animation has finished. PoE2 Wiki’s boss entry.

The Wiki lists Azarian as dealing physical and fire damage and having fire resistance. Fire mitigation is worth considering if you can add it without undermining your build, but the available references specify neither a required resistance value nor a mandatory item. PoE2 Wiki.
- Keep an escape route: Avoid getting pinned near a wall when a fire attack begins.
- Prioritize movement during wind-ups: Give up an attack opportunity rather than risk being caught by the wave or slam.
- Use the recovery window: Resume attacking after the attack has passed or the animation has ended.
What defeating Azarian unlocks
Azarian is part of The City of Seven Waters. The quest reference says defeating him opens access to the shrine holding the Essence of Water, which is required for the quest.
