Formative Moments and Childhood Sentiments are features of The Sims 4: Adventure Awaits. The expansion is required, and the base game is also required. EA describes what these features do, but its published pages do not provide verified, step-by-step unlock conditions for every individual Moment or Sentiment. That means there is no confirmed universal checklist of actions or thresholds to follow.
What you need to access them
EA lists Adventure Awaits as an expansion for The Sims 4 and gives its release date as October 2, 2025. The store listing says The Sims 4 is required; the expansion license provides access to its digital content. See EA’s Adventure Awaits listing.
EA describes Formative Moments as experiences through which Child Sims shape personality and skills. The pack announcement also mentions childhood activities, new traits, and challenges that can build confidence and connections. Childhood Sentiments are described separately as evolving experiences that can influence a Sim well into adulthood. Read EA’s pack announcement.
How to unlock individual Moments and Sentiments
EA’s public feature descriptions do not spell out the exact trigger for each individual Formative Moment or Childhood Sentiment. They do not establish specific interaction sequences, skill levels, relationship thresholds, or a complete unlock list. So, while the expansion is the confirmed requirement for these features, a particular action cannot be presented as a guaranteed unlock method based on EA’s published information.

- Create Vampires
- Unleash Supernatural Powers
- Escape to Forgotten Hollow
- Live the Immortal Life
Keep the three related concepts distinct when checking what happens in your game:
- Formative Moment or challenge: the childhood experience associated with shaping personality or skills.
- Reward or benefit: a skill-related outcome associated with some Moments; this is not necessarily the trigger that unlocks the Moment.
- Childhood Sentiment: a separate evolving experience EA says can have effects into adulthood.
Formative Moment-related skill Rewards EA lists
EA Help’s skill guide search excerpt names the following Adventure Awaits-related Rewards and shows a cost of 100 Satisfaction Points for each listed entry. These are examples from the excerpt, not a verified complete catalog. A Reward’s point cost should not be mistaken for the condition that unlocks its associated Moment. See EA Help’s skills guide.

- Develop Parenting Skills – Level up your Sim’s parenting skills to satisfy their child’s needs and influence their behaviors. Gain new abilities through experience and choosing when to discipline bad actions, encourage good behavior, or just let kids be kids.

- Customize your Sims’ looks and their home with new family fashion and build items. Give the kids’ bedrooms extra personality, remodel the kitchen to feel homier, and let your Sims express their sporty or artistic sides with new outfits.

- Confirm the pack is available. The Sims 4 base game alone is not enough; Adventure Awaits is the expansion EA identifies as adding Formative Moments.
- Check the in-game feature or reward description. Use the text shown for the particular Sim and entry you are pursuing rather than assuming a reward name reveals its trigger.
- Do not treat a skill Reward as proof of an unlock requirement. The EA Help excerpt gives reward names, associated skills, and costs, but does not document the trigger conditions for each Moment.
- Distinguish a Sentiment from a Moment. EA describes Sentiments as evolving experiences with potential effects into adulthood, not as a list of Moment challenges or a guaranteed reward for completing one.
For a particular Moment or Sentiment, the exact unlock action remains unconfirmed in the cited EA material. Avoid relying on a precise threshold or interaction sequence unless it is documented for that specific entry.
