To change a villager’s offers, remove and replace its profession’s job-site block before you trade with it. Check the offers and repeat until you see the one you want; completing a trade locks in the villager’s offers. If a trade is simply used up, let the villager work at its job site to restock instead.
Rerolling a villager’s offers
- Identify the villager’s profession and its associated job-site block. For example, a librarian uses a lectern and a leatherworker uses a cauldron.
- Make sure you have not traded with the villager yet. Break its job-site block, then place the block again.
- Open the trade screen and check the offers. If you do not want them, repeat the block removal and replacement before completing any trade.
- Once the offer you want appears, complete a trade to lock in the offers.
This reroll method is general guidance: Minecraft Wiki’s trading-hall tutorial describes resetting an untraded villager’s offers by replacing its job block, while noting that parts of the tutorial may need updating. Mojang’s official notes confirm the profession-to-workstation relationship, but do not directly document this reroll procedure. Minecraft Wiki’s trading-hall tutorial; Mojang’s Java release article.
Restocking an exhausted trade
If an offer has been used up and appears unavailable, you do not need to reroll the villager. Keep it able to work at its job-site block and allow work time. Mojang says villagers can restock up to twice per day if they can work at their workstation. Mojang, “Village & Pillage out today on Java”.

If the offers do not change
- Check whether you have already completed a trade with that villager; trading locks in its offers.
- Confirm you are removing the job-site block associated with that villager’s profession.
- Note your Minecraft edition and version when troubleshooting. The cited guidance does not establish that every job-site linking detail works identically in current Java and Bedrock versions.
