To improve your chances of earning S rank in Ready or Not, complete every main and soft objective, secure all evidence, avoid fatalities and rules-of-engagement violations, and prioritize taking suspects into custody. The available grading reference lists those conditions, but it is community-maintained—not an official, current scoring specification—so treat them as general guidance rather than a guarantee for every mission or build.
What the available grading reference says S rank requires
The Ready or Not Wiki’s grading reference says mission grades reflect overall score and lists these S-grade conditions:
- Complete all main objectives.
- Complete all soft objectives.
- Have no fatalities.
- Collect all evidence.
- Avoid rules-of-engagement (ROE) breaks.
That same reference says a suspect killed during a mission limits the highest possible grade to A+. Since this is a community-maintained page, not an official scoring specification, it should not be treated as definitive for every current mission.
How to prepare and run an S-rank attempt
- Read the briefing before deployment. Identify every listed main objective, then plan to keep searching after those objectives are complete. Some soft objectives are hidden and may involve finding an object or collecting evidence.
- Favor arrests over lethal force. The grading reference includes no fatalities among the S criteria and says a suspect kill caps the grade at A+. Focus on controlling and arresting suspects, while following ROE.
- Clear rooms methodically and secure evidence. Search for objective items and optional evidence, including weapons dropped by suspects. VOID Interactive’s older developer announcement distinguishes required “hard reportables” from generally optional “soft reportables” and says dropped weapons should be secured.
- Consider a less-lethal loadout. A Steam Community guide updated June 15, 2025 recommends avoiding a lethal primary weapon for S attempts and notes that a shield officer may use a pistol. Equipment behavior can change, so check the current build and teammate settings; no single loadout is established as best for every mission.
- Check the result screen before replaying. Review the end-of-mission grade and score summary for missed objectives, evidence, or penalties. The cited sources do not establish an authoritative current numeric cutoff for S rank.
Less-lethal and lethal approaches compared
| Approach | Control over fatalities | Teammate weapon behavior | Practical trade-off |
|---|---|---|---|
| Less-lethal, arrest-focused | Offers more control over avoiding fatalities, which the grading reference lists as an S condition. | A 2025 Steam Community guide notes a shield officer may use a pistol; verify current settings and behavior. | Requires securing suspects alive and managing encounters without lethal force. The sources do not establish one universally optimal loadout. |
| Lethal approach | A suspect death risks fatalities and, according to the grading reference, can cap the result at A+. | Not specified in the cited sources. | Less aligned with the cited S-rank conditions; the sources do not establish a mission-wide exception. |
How current is this guidance?
VOID Interactive’s official update listing includes a September 3, 2026 v1.5 Mission Editor changelog and a May 19, 2026 v1.4.3a changelog. Those entries establish recent release context, but the available official documentation does not confirm whether the exact S-grade checklist remains unchanged in those versions. Nor does it provide a mission-by-mission account of exceptions. Be especially cautious when applying the general checklist to DLC and Mission Editor missions.
