You can’t download an official PC version of Super Mario Odyssey. Nintendo says it does not offer or authorize a product for playing or downloading its game files on personal computers. The official release is for Nintendo Switch; you can buy it digitally through Nintendo eShop or Nintendo’s website, or get the physical game card.
Is Super Mario Odyssey available on PC?
No official PC release is identified by Nintendo. Its Intellectual Property & Piracy FAQ states: “Nintendo does not currently offer or authorise for sale any product that allows the play or download of its video game files on personal computing devices.” Nintendo’s product listings identify Super Mario Odyssey as a Nintendo Switch game.
That means a website offering a Super Mario Odyssey game file for direct PC download is not offering Nintendo’s official PC edition. Nintendo describes game files shared through peer-to-peer networks or third-party file-hosting links as unauthorized copies, and says uploading and downloading pirate copies is illegal. This reflects Nintendo’s stated position; it is not a complete legal analysis of emulators, personal backups, or circumvention laws in every jurisdiction.
How to get the official Switch version
- Choose a format: Nintendo’s official buy page offers a digital edition and a standard edition. The physical format is a Nintendo Switch game card.
- For digital, use Nintendo’s store: Purchase through Nintendo eShop on a compatible system or through Nintendo’s website. Nintendo says the digital version downloads directly to the system.
- Check your region and system: Store availability and details depend on the country associated with your Nintendo Account. Make sure the linked system has internet access and enough available storage; check your regional Nintendo listing for current requirements and price.
- For a game card, use a Nintendo Switch: Buy the physical Switch edition from an authorized retailer and play it on a compatible system.
Nintendo’s official digital purchase route is for the Switch version, not a way to install the game on a Windows PC or other personal computer.
