Where to find Whetstone in Farbane Woods
Bandit Encampments are a useful early source: Whetstone is listed as common loot there. The Farbane Woods guide also names the Bandit Armory and Bandit Stronghold as Whetstone farming locations. Farbane Woods is the first area after the tutorial.

- Bandit Encampments: Prioritize these for common Whetstone loot.
- Bandit Armory: A strong option when you also need Stone Dust; both are listed as common loot.
- Bandit Stronghold: Another named Whetstone farming location, with Paper among its other loot.
Bandit sites can also yield other useful materials, including Sulphur Ore. Looting a few Whetstones first is especially helpful because the Grinder needed to produce Stone Dust itself requires Whetstone.
How to unlock the Whetstone recipe
Defeat Grayson the Armourer at the Bandit Armory in western Farbane Woods. His V Blood entry lists the Whetstone recipe among his unlocks and identifies him as Level 27; that level is wiki-listed game data and may change with updates.

How to craft Whetstone
Once the recipe is unlocked, use a Furnace or Advanced Furnace. The recipe yields two Whetstones per batch:

The V Rising Wiki Items table lists the recipe and floor bonus. Stone Dust is produced by processing Stone in a Grinder, alongside Stone Brick; the Stone Dust entry covers that output.

Why looting matters before building a Grinder
The Shelter quest unlocks the Grinder, which costs eight Planks, four Copper Ingots, and four Whetstones to build. That creates an early progression loop: a Grinder can turn Stone into Stone Brick and Stone Dust, but you need Whetstone to build it. Finding the initial Whetstones at bandit sites gets you past that dependency. After defeating Grayson and gaining access to a Furnace, you can make more Whetstone using Copper Ingots and Stone Dust.
The Grinder recipe is 12 Stone for one Stone Brick and one Stone Dust; with its listed matching-floor bonus, it is 9 Stone for the same output. The Grinder guide gives these material quantities.
