To romance Piper Wright in Fallout 4, recruit her in Diamond City after completing Reunions, travel with her while raising affinity, then choose the flirt and romance responses when her conversations unlock. Both dialogue checks require Charisma, so boost the stat before attempting them.
1. Recruit Piper in Diamond City
Complete the Reunions quest, then meet Piper in Diamond City and recruit her as a companion. Keep her as your active companion while you work toward a romance.

2. Raise Piper’s affinity
Affinity rises as you make choices Piper approves of while she accompanies you. Bethesda Support recommends completing quests with a companion active, speaking with companions regularly, and responding when they indicate they want to talk. It also identifies Paramour as an aid item and the Leadership Social skill as ways to help affinity gains. See Bethesda Support’s companion affinity advice.
Actions Piper likes
- Make generous decisions or donate items.
- Heal Dogmeat.
- Pick locks that are not owned.
- GameSpot’s guide also categorizes mean decisions as a like, so do not assume every approval is simply a kind or peaceful choice.
Actions Piper dislikes
- Steal or pick owned locks.
- Make selfish decisions or choose peaceful decisions.
- Eat corpses or murder non-hostile characters.
- Choose violent actions, according to GameSpot’s preference list.
These are guide-listed preferences, not a complete affinity formula. In particular, the guide’s labels include both “mean decisions” among likes and “peaceful decisions” among dislikes; treat those categories as specific listed responses rather than universal rules. See GameSpot’s companion guide.

3. Take her conversations and pass the Charisma checks
As affinity increases, Piper will offer conversations that reveal more about her and eventually open flirt dialogue. Choose the flirt response when it appears. The flirt check requires Charisma; raising your Charisma or equipping clothing that boosts it can help before you start the conversation.
Continue building affinity and respond when Piper wants to talk. A later conversation offers the romance response, which also requires a Charisma check. Choose it to establish the relationship. GameSpot notes that if Piper does not accept on the first romance check, continuing to show behavior she likes can create another opportunity; the guide does not establish a reliable recovery method for every missed or declined option.

What romance and maximum affinity unlock
Piper’s unique perk, Gift of Gab, is awarded at maximum affinity and grants double XP for overcoming dialogue challenges and discovering new locations. You do not need to romance her to obtain that companion perk. If you do romance her, sleeping in a bed or mattress while she is nearby can trigger Lover’s Embrace, a temporary 15% XP bonus, as described by GameSpot’s romance guide.
