Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 1 & 2 Remastered bundles remastered versions of the first two Soul Reaver games; it is not a new sequel. Aspyr and Crystal Dynamics announced the collection for the series’ 25th anniversary, and it launched December 10, 2024. It is available for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC.
What games and platforms are in the collection?
The collection contains Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver and Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2. Crystal Dynamics’ announcement named Aspyr as publisher and listed Nintendo Switch, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC as platforms. The announcement gave a launch price of $29.99 in 2024; that is not confirmation of the current price in any store or region. Crystal Dynamics’ announcement.
What is different in the remasters?
The games retain their original combat, puzzles and boss fights, while adding visual and control options and convenience features. Aspyr Director of Product Chris Bashaar said the team had access to Crystal Dynamics’ source code and a complete asset set, and that this foundation let it deliver “the exact same combat, puzzles, and boss fights, with the same balance and feel, as the original.” Aspyr’s PlayStation Blog post.
- Switchable graphics: Change between original and remastered visuals while playing. The remasters include higher-resolution textures, models and visual effects.
- Updated controls and camera: Analog controls are available, and the first game gains a right-stick camera option.
- Map and compass: A new map and compass help with orientation and navigation.
- Photo mode and platform rewards: The collection adds photo mode, achievements on supported platforms and trophies on PlayStation.
- Restored day-and-night cycle: The first game’s cycle, cut before the original release, was restored.
What bonus content is included?
The collection adds archival and behind-the-scenes material alongside the games. Aspyr’s December 4, 2024 feature describes a lore map developed with community members and Crystal Dynamics artists, galleries of classic and new HD renders, cinematics, original credits, demo videos, outtakes, and scripts for both games. The Lost Levels
Four unfinished areas—Undercity, Smokestack, Retreat and Forges—are playable as Raziel. They are preserved historical material, not finished levels restored to the same standard as the released games: Aspyr cautions that some areas may have missing textures or feel under construction. They are best approached as a look at development history rather than polished new campaign chapters.
Are physical editions available?
Limited Run Games lists physical standard editions for Switch, PS5 and Xbox, plus collector’s editions for Switch, PS5, Xbox and PC. Collector’s edition contents
The listed collector’s edition includes the game, a numbered slipcover for the standard case, a SteelBook, soundtrack, double-sided Nosgoth map poster, mini-comic, display stand with removable Soul Reaver sword replica, block puzzle, medallion, lenticular pin and art cards. The PC collector’s edition comes with a Steam key; it does not include the physical game case described for console editions. Check the retailer listing for the selected platform and current availability, as those details can change.

- Choose digital if you want the game on a supported platform without buying a physical edition.
- Choose the physical standard edition if you want a console copy and do not need the collector’s items.
- Choose the collector’s edition if the listed memorabilia and archival extras are worth the additional purchase to you. For PC, note that the game is supplied as a Steam key rather than a physical case.
