If Killer Frequency crashes on PS4, try the checks below in order, starting with a full restart and software updates. These are general PlayStation and publisher troubleshooting steps—not confirmed fixes for a known Killer Frequency-specific bug. No official game-specific crash cause or guaranteed cure is established by the available support guidance.
Try these PS4 troubleshooting steps in order
Ubisoft Help advises trying its general PS4 performance steps in order for problems such as crashes. Its guidance is not specific to Killer Frequency, so treat each step as a way to check common console, access, and installation issues—not as a proven game-specific fix. PlayStation’s own game-start support flow also recommends several of these checks.

Restart the PS4 fully
Use the PS4’s Power menu to select Restart PS4, then launch the game again. A full restart is an early check in PlayStation’s game-start guidance and Ubisoft’s performance troubleshooting sequence. See PlayStation’s PS4 game-start troubleshooting and Ubisoft’s general PS4 technical troubleshooting.

Check for game and system updates
Install any available update for Killer Frequency and the PS4 system software, then test again. The support pages recommend checking updates, but do not identify a particular Killer Frequency patch as a crash fix. Confirm the installation and content are complete
Before launching, check that the game has finished installing and that any related content needed to start it has completed downloading. Ubisoft includes installation completion among its general PS4 checks. A partially installed game is a possibility to rule out, not an established cause of Killer Frequency crashes.

Check the storage location
If the game is installed on USB extended storage, confirm the drive is connected and recognized by the console. As a diagnostic step, Ubisoft suggests trying the internal drive when external storage may be involved. This can help narrow down a storage-related issue; it does not establish that the external drive is faulty.

Restore licenses if access may be involved
If the crash happens at launch alongside an access or entitlement problem, restore licenses: open Settings > Account Management > Restore Licenses. PlayStation and Ubisoft both include license restoration in their troubleshooting guidance. It is a targeted check for access-related trouble, not a universal crash remedy.

Test the game offline once
Ubisoft recommends disconnecting the PS4 from the internet, trying to launch the game, and reconnecting afterward. Use this only as a diagnostic test to see whether connectivity is relevant; it is not a confirmed long-term workaround for Killer Frequency.

Delete and redownload the game
If simpler checks do not help, delete the game application and download it again. PlayStation recommends redownloading for game-start problems, and Ubisoft includes reinstalling when an issue may be tied to game installation files. Before deleting anything, check how your saved data is stored and backed up so you do not remove data you need.

Rebuild the database in Safe Mode
Use PlayStation’s official PS4 Safe Mode instructions to choose Rebuild Database after the simpler checks. Select that option specifically; do not confuse it with Initialize PS4, which is a different, destructive action. Back up important data before considering any initialization or system software reinstallation.

Contact PlayStation Support if it still crashes
Give PlayStation Support the exact error code or message, what you were doing when the crash occurred, steps that reproduce it, and a screenshot or video if available. Mention whether other games show the same problem; that context may help support investigate, but it does not by itself diagnose the console.
If you are using a disc copy
PlayStation’s disc troubleshooting advice applies when the problem involves reading a disc, not as a general cure for game crashes. If the PS4 has trouble recognizing the disc, follow the PlayStation Canada disc-reading guidance. It includes disc inspection and cleaning advice and warns that initializing the console deletes information. Do not treat disc cleaning as a fix for crashes unrelated to disc reading.

What these steps can—and cannot—tell you
If the game works after a step, that result may point toward a temporary console state, update, access, storage, or installation issue. If it keeps crashing, the available official guidance does not identify a specific Killer Frequency PS4 bug or confirm that any one step will resolve it. Recording the error and the exact circumstances is more useful than assuming the crash has a known cause.
