Kapp’n’s Family Hotel—called the Resort Hotel in Nintendo’s feature description—is part of the free Ver. 3.0 update for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. After the update, find the hotel on the pier beside Kapp’n’s boat, help Leilani prepare themed guest rooms and fulfill delivery orders, then spend the hotel tickets you earn at the souvenir shop. The hotel is separate from the paid Happy Home Paradise DLC.
How do I unlock the hotel?
If you have an established island save, install the free Ver. 3.0 update and check Isabelle’s morning announcement. Nintendo Life reports that Isabelle flags the hotel after the update; the hotel is on the pier next to Kapp’n’s boat, though the pier’s location varies by island. Nintendo’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons feature page describes it as a seaside hotel run by Kapp’n and his family.
For a new or restarted save, an exact unlock checklist is not confirmed by the sources available. GamesRadar reports that a three-star island and Kapp’n’s presence are required, but that is a secondary guide claim, not an official progression rule. FPSHUB proposes a Resident Services threshold as a guess. If the hotel does not appear, progress your island and check Isabelle’s announcements again rather than treating a particular rating or building milestone as definitive.
How do I start decorating guest rooms?
- Go to the hotel on the pier and speak with Leilani. Nintendo Life says she takes you to the first room.
- Follow the assigned theme and furnish the room. Nintendo Life reports eight rooms to complete and recommends entering decorating mode with Down on the D-pad, then using the Recommended items list to find suitable furniture.
- Keep the entrance clear. Nintendo Life advises against blocking it while decorating.

How do deliveries and hotel tickets work?
Complete delivery orders using DIY recipes and island resources. Nintendo says Kapp’n carries these items across the seas. Decorating guest rooms and fulfilling deliveries both earn hotel tickets, which you can exchange for souvenirs in the hotel shop.
GamesRadar reports that players can decorate two rooms per day for 200 tickets per room, or 400 tickets in total. Those are guide-reported quantities, not figures stated in Nintendo’s feature description.

Can amiibo invite hotel guests?
Compatible amiibo can invite selected characters to stay at the Resort Hotel. Nintendo also says selected The Legend of Zelda and Splatoon amiibo unlock themed items and certain characters. Compatibility is specific: check that an amiibo supports the character or content you want rather than assuming every figure or card works.

No. Nintendo lists the Resort Hotel among features in the free Ver. 3.0 update, while describing Happy Home Paradise separately as paid DLC and as content included with Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. You do not need to buy that DLC to access the hotel update.
