It added a third region and Guardian to Hades II’s Surface Route, plus new Allies, Animal Familiars, a weapon, and other content. That is a historical update, not a newly announced addition: Hades II reached v1.0 in 2025, and Supergiant said before launch that it had no plans for further regions.
What The Olympic Update added
Supergiant Games described the update as bringing the Surface Route closer to the Underworld route’s level of completion. Its additions included:

- A third region and a new Guardian on the Surface Route.
- Two new Allies and two Animal Familiars.
- Xinth, the Black Coat, the sixth and final main weapon.
- New challenges, Crossroads decorations, music, art, and story events.
Supergiant said the update included close to 2,500 new voice lines. The announcement’s description of the new region and Guardian is specific to the Surface Route; it does not mean the Underworld route gained another region in this update.
Why the headline is no longer current news
The update’s “new region” framing dates to 2024. In a June 17, 2025 post about the Unseen Update, Supergiant said it had “no plans for additional regions, encounters, abilities, and so on” as it prepared for v1.0. That update added combat and relationship content, rather than another region. Supergiant’s Unseen Update announcement provides that context.

Hades II reached v1.0 on September 25, 2025, with its true ending, character events, music, prophecies, unlockables, and other finishing touches. The launch was for Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. In April 2026, Supergiant announced Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 releases, along with a patch bringing bonus content and quality-of-life improvements to all versions. Those dated announcements describe launch plans and releases; check the relevant storefront for current availability in your region.
