The August 20 event in Cologne was hosted by Geoff Keighley with Eefje Depoortere (Sjokz) as co-host, and GameSpot described the show as two hours long. The biggest new reveals included Borderlands 4, Reanimal, The Dark Pictures Anthology: Directive 8020 and Masters of Albion.
New games revealed during the main show
These were among the clearest new-game announcements in the main broadcast. Some were new franchises; others extended an existing series or anthology.
Borderlands 4
Borderlands 4 was a surprise reveal at the start of the main show. Its teaser showed a cracked or scarred planet and the franchise’s mask. Epic Games Store reported a planned 2025 release at the time; that was the announcement’s 2024 timing, not a statement of current availability. Epic’s Gamescom 2024 guide and GameSpot’s announcement roundup covered the reveal.
Reanimal
Tarsier Studios revealed Reanimal, a horror adventure combining cinematic platforming, puzzles and co-op. GameSpot compared its genre elements with Little Nightmares; that comparison describes the style, not a connection between the games. GameSpot’s roundup covered the announcement.

Was every announcement a new game reveal?
No. ONL 2024 combined several kinds of news. Borderlands 4, Reanimal and Masters of Albion were presented as new reveals; Directive 8020 was a new anthology entry. Other segments focused on a remaster, a sequel or spin-off, gameplay from an announced game, or a release-date and platform update. Secret Level, also mentioned in GameSpot’s coverage, was an anthology series for Prime Video based on existing and new games—not a game reveal.
