Larian calls Divinity “Larian’s most ambitious title yet.” That is the studio’s own promotional description, not an independently measured comparison.
When the trailer premiered
The Game Awards’ official channel published the “Divinity World Premiere Trailer from The Game Awards 2025” on December 11, 2025. The listing describes it as the next game from Larian Studios: watch the official world-premiere trailer. Larian’s press announcement, dated December 12, says the trailer was shown live during the event.

Do you need to play an earlier Divinity game?
The reveal materials do not say that prior games are required preparation. Readers curious about Larian’s Divinity catalogue can find Divinity: Original Sin 2 among the released games listed on Larian’s official website, but the new announcement does not identify it as a prerequisite.

The reveal’s place in the 2025 show
The Game Awards reported an estimated 171 million global livestreams for its full 2025 broadcast, 11% above its 2024 estimate of 154 million.
