1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsIf NVIDIA Game Filters disappeared or will not open in Valorant, first check that they are enabled in NVIDIA App. NVIDIA says the feature is off by default. If the setting is already on, test the overlay and update the app and driver; the available official information does not confirm whether Valorant currently supports Game Filters or whether Riot Vanguard affects them.
1. Enable Game Filters in NVIDIA App
- Open NVIDIA App and go to Settings > Features > Overlay > Game Filters and Photo Mode.
- Turn on Game Filters and Photo Mode if it is disabled. NVIDIA’s release highlights say Game Filter defaults to off and identify this setting path: NVIDIA App release highlights.
- Restart NVIDIA App and Valorant, then open the NVIDIA overlay and check for the filter panel.
NVIDIA describes Freestyle as a post-processing feature accessed through the in-game overlay in supported games. Its historical instructions give Alt+F3 as a shortcut for supported games; the filters can also be accessed through the overlay. If the shortcut does nothing, try opening the overlay directly rather than treating the shortcut failure alone as proof that the feature is unavailable. See NVIDIA’s Freestyle instructions.
2. Check whether the overlay itself opens
Separate an overlay problem from a filter-availability problem. If the NVIDIA overlay will not open at all, the filter panel cannot appear through it. If the overlay opens but Game Filters are missing, or Valorant is identified as unsupported, the setting may already be enabled while the game is not exposing the feature.
- Game Filters setting is off: enable it using the path above, then restart both apps.
- Overlay does not open: check NVIDIA App settings and whether the app and driver are current before testing again.
- Overlay opens, but filters are absent or Valorant is marked unsupported: check for updates and release notes, but do not assume that the global setting is broken.
3. Update NVIDIA App and check driver release notes
Update NVIDIA App and your graphics driver, then review the current release notes for filter-related fixes. NVIDIA has documented filter problems in the past, including game-specific failures and filter styles not persisting after a driver update. That history makes an app or driver issue plausible, but it does not establish the cause of a problem in Valorant. NVIDIA’s release highlights include those historical fixes.

- Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
- A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
4. What Valorant compatibility is—and is not—confirmed
NVIDIA says Freestyle supports more than 1,200 games on its NVIDIA App product page. That is a library-wide figure, not confirmation that Valorant is currently supported. The official NVIDIA information cited here does not provide a Valorant-specific compatibility confirmation, and it does not establish that Riot Vanguard blocks or restricts filters. Do not disable or bypass anti-cheat protections to troubleshoot this.
If the overlay and filters work in other supported games but not Valorant, that points to a game-specific compatibility issue; it does not prove what is causing it. Check for current official compatibility guidance before drawing a firmer conclusion.

5. If the filters still do not appear
When contacting NVIDIA support, include the NVIDIA App version, graphics driver version, GPU model, whether the overlay opens in other supported games, and the exact message shown in Valorant. These details help distinguish a setting, overlay, or game-specific issue.
