In World of Warcraft Classic: Season of Discovery, Nightmare Seed drops from enemies in the Temple of Atal’Hakkar (Sunken Temple) and is used as a crafting reagent. You can also farm it with a Nightmare Resonance Crystal after reaching Exalted reputation with the Emerald Wardens. This Season of Discovery item was added in patch 1.15.2 on April 2, 2024.
Where Nightmare Seed drops
The item reference lists dragonkin in the Temple of Atal’Hakkar as a source; a Phase 3 crafting guide describes drops from a variety of Sunken Temple enemies. The Alchemy guide also identifies Sunken Temple Level-Up Raid mobs as a source. See the Season of Discovery item reference and Wowhead’s Season of Discovery Alchemy guide.
The sources do not provide a reliable numeric drop chance. Expect results to vary; no specific rate or farm yield is established.

Kill enemies in Sunken Temple
Run the Temple of Atal’Hakkar and kill its dragonkin and other enemies. This route requires access to the raid; the cited sources do not compare its efficiency with the crystal route.

Use the Nightmare Resonance Crystal
Wowhead’s Phase 3 epic-crafting guide says the Nightmare Resonance Crystal can be used to farm Nightmare Seeds. The crystal is earned by reaching Exalted with the Emerald Wardens. The guide does not quantify how quickly this route produces seeds, so it cannot be called faster than raid drops based on the available figures.
Buy or sell through the Auction House
The Phase 3 guide says Nightmare Seeds can be traded on the Auction House. Prices depend on the realm and current listings; no price or trading-volume figure is established here.

What Nightmare Seed is used for
Nightmare Seed is a reagent, not an item of equipment. The item reference lists it in recipes for several Season of Discovery crafted items, including shoulders, bracers, and flasks. The Phase 3 guide provides more context on the crafted-item system.
One specific recipe example is Flask of Everlasting Nightmares. Wowhead’s Classic PTR spell page lists 10 Nightmare Seeds, one Inert Mantle of Nightmares, and one Crystal Vial as reagents. That page is PTR database information, not confirmation of the recipe’s current live-game status; check the recipe in-game if the exact present-day requirements matter.

Make sure you have the right Nightmare Seed
This article covers the Season of Discovery item, added in patch 1.15.2. A distinct item with the same name existed in Burning Crusade Classic; its item page says it was removed in patch 3.0.2. Use the Burning Crusade Classic item page only if you are looking up that older item, not the Season of Discovery reagent.
