The Duskbloods is a FromSoftware online multiplayer action game announced for Nintendo Switch 2, with a worldwide release scheduled for 2026. It is currently announced only for Switch 2; official materials reviewed do not name another platform. No specific launch date has been announced.
Is The Duskbloods exclusive to Switch 2?
For now, yes: Nintendo Switch 2 is the only platform named in FromSoftware’s April 2, 2025 announcement and on the official game site, checked October 8, 2026. That makes it a Switch 2 exclusive among announced platforms, but does not establish that exclusivity is permanent or rule out a future version elsewhere.

When does The Duskbloods come out?
The announced worldwide release window is 2026. The official announcement and current game site give a year, not a launch day or month. They also do not establish a retail price or confirm a physical edition.
What kind of game is The Duskbloods?
FromSoftware describes it as a PvPvE multiplayer action game: players compete against one another while also battling computer-controlled enemies. The announcement says up to eight players vie for supremacy against rivals and challenging foes.

Bloodsworn and the setting
Players take the role of Bloodsworn, characters with superhuman abilities derived from special blood. In an April 4, 2025 interview with Nintendo UK, director Hidetaka Miyazaki described them as vampire-like in a romanticized sense, rather than traditional horrifying monsters. They pursue First Blood as humanity nears the Twilight of Humanity.
The setting is not confined to one fixed era or place. Miyazaki described maps with Gothic or Victorian influences and a world resembling the closing years of the early modern period.

Movement, characters and objectives
Miyazaki described sprinting, super-jumps and double-jumps, as well as character-specific weapons, abilities and ranged attacks. He said players would be able to choose from over a dozen characters. Character customization was described as drawing on a character’s blood history and fate, affecting abilities, appearance and relationships.
Online roles can also add personal objectives, such as a designated rival or companion, alongside the overall victory conditions. These are details from the 2025 interview; Miyazaki noted that some role names and details were still being finalized at the time, so they should not all be treated as confirmed final specifications.

How did Switch 2 shape development?
Miyazaki said FromSoftware first presented Nintendo with a loose concept, and Nintendo expressed interest in helping bring it to life. A small team initially developed the game for the original Switch. As development progressed, Nintendo approached the team about Switch 2, and the plan changed to target the newer hardware. Miyazaki said the change let the team focus more on online play while staying close to its original vision. The official site’s news archive lists an August 2026 network test and gameplay guide. FromSoftware’s August 21, 2026 notice says the test ran from August 21 through August 24, 2026, so that test period has passed. Its application page displayed that applications had closed when reviewed.

The test page said online features required a Nintendo Switch Online membership, a Nintendo Account and internet access, and noted that the service was unavailable in some countries. Those are test-page terms; they do not establish the final requirements for the released game.
Connection advice from FromSoftware
The test notice cautioned that wireless stability can vary by play environment. If wireless play was unstable, it suggested trying a more stable wireless environment or playing with the console docked and connected by wire. Wired play was troubleshooting advice, not a stated requirement for the full game.
