Bandai Namco’s launch information and official Nightreign FAQ distinguish cross-generation console play from crossplay among PlayStation, Xbox and PC. Their guidance does not list a setting or workaround that lets players cross those platform-family boundaries.

What cross-generation play means for PS4, PS5 and Xbox
Cross-generation play means that players using different generations of the same console family can play together. A PS4 owner can join a PS5 owner, and an Xbox One owner can join someone on Xbox Series X|S. It does not mean that a PlayStation player can join an Xbox player, or that an Xbox player can join someone on PC.
If you are choosing which edition to buy for a group, coordinate the platform family first. Buying another platform’s copy does not enable crossplay; check the current platform and edition options on the official Nightreign site and confirm that your friends can use a compatible platform.

How multiplayer works in Nightreign
Nightreign is designed around three-player co-op, but it also supports solo play. The official starter guide says solo play can be online or offline; cooperative multiplayer requires an internet connection. You can set a multiplayer password before an expedition to help arrange a session with specific players.
An out-of-region matchmaking setting can affect matchmaking among compatible players. It does not make cross-platform play possible.

What to check if compatible friends cannot matchmake
If you are on compatible platforms—for example, PS4 and PS5—but cannot connect, Bandai Namco’s official FAQ recommends checking the session setup:
- Make sure everyone entered the same password, including its capitalization.
- Confirm that everyone is on the same platform family and has selected Multiplayer Mode.
- Check that all players selected the same boss and matchmaking setting.
- Ensure the game app and regulation versions match and are current.
- Check whether players progressing through Remembrance missions at the same time are interfering with matchmaking.
These checks can help resolve a session problem between compatible platforms; they cannot connect PlayStation, Xbox and PC players to one another.
