Nintendo’s June 18, 2024 Direct focused on Nintendo Switch games, with reveals including The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom, Mario & Luigi: Brothership and the first gameplay look at Metroid Prime 4: Beyond. The presentation also covered remakes, partner games, an update, and additions to Nintendo Switch Online. Release dates and windows below are the ones Nintendo announced in 2024; they are not a guide to what is currently available.
The biggest reveals
The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom
Zelda takes the lead in a new adventure after strange rifts begin swallowing people across Hyrule, including a swordsman. She teams up with the fairy Tri and uses the Tri Rod to create “echoes”—copies of things she encounters. Nintendo showed Zelda making water blocks to climb, turning beds into bridges, throwing rocks and creating monster echoes to fight alongside her. Nintendo announced a September 26, 2024 release for Switch. Nintendo Australia’s announcement and Nintendo UK’s recap give the release date and game details.
Mario & Luigi: Brothership
The brothers return in a new RPG, setting sail aboard Shipshape Island—a vessel that is also an island—through the world of Concordia. Nintendo highlighted Bros. Moves for traversing obstacles and Bros. Attacks in turn-based combat. The announced Switch release date was November 7, 2024. Nintendo Australia and Nintendo UK describe the announcement.
Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Nintendo showed the first gameplay look at Samus Aran’s next mission and announced a 2025 release window for Nintendo Switch. The presentation did not provide a specific date. Nintendo Australia’s recap identifies it as the first gameplay glimpse.
