Paradise Killer is a single-player investigation adventure built around a rare kind of freedom: you decide what to investigate, whom to question, and who to accuse. Its surreal island, eccentric cast, and self-directed case make it a strong fit for players who enjoy exploring and interpreting clues; it is less suited to anyone who wants a tightly guided detective story with one obvious route to the truth.

What is Paradise Killer?

In Paradise Killer, you play Lady Love Dies, an investigator brought back to Paradise Island to solve a mass murder. The island is an alternate-world setting ruled by an immortal Syndicate, with dead alien gods, secrets, and a deliberately offbeat visual style. Kaizen Game Works describes it as an open-world murder mystery; the publisher, Fellow Traveller, emphasizes that the player investigates and chooses an accusation.

The case unfolds through exploration, evidence gathering, and interviews. Rather than following a fixed sequence of clues, you can roam the island and speak with suspects in an order that suits you. The game leaves room to decide how the evidence fits together: there are multiple possible killers and different ways to build a case.

How do the investigation and trial work?

Explore and gather evidence

Search Paradise Island for clues and details that can clarify the crime and its wider context. The open structure lets you pursue leads at your own pace, so progress depends on noticing what is worth investigating rather than simply following a marked sequence of tasks.

Paradise Killer: Collector's Edition - PlayStation 4
  • Free form investigation and evidence gathering in a fully interactive story
  • An open world filled with mysteries
  • Learn a long dead language born on a forgotten planet
  • Scour the sun drenched streets of Paradise. Interrogate lunatics and psychopaths. Understand the depths of demonic degeneracy. Uncover the facts and make the truths
  • Languages - English, Japanese, Simplified Chinese, and Traditional Chinese in-game text. English in-game voice.

Question the suspects

Interviews help you compare what people say with the evidence you find. The cast and its entanglements are part of the mystery, so the conversations matter not only as plot delivery but also as material for deciding which account is credible.

Make your case

At trial, you choose whom to accuse and present the version of events you have assembled. The game does not require every player to reach the same conclusion by the same route. That freedom is the central appeal, but it also means players who want the game to identify a single, unmistakable solution may find the ambiguity frustrating.

What do reviews say?

There is no single score that captures the full critical response in the sources available here. GameSpot listed James O’Connor’s review at 9/10, dated September 3, 2020, covering Nintendo Switch and PC. The Steam listing displays excerpts with a 9/10 from GameSpot and 91/100 from PC Gamer; those are individual review scores, not an aggregate.

Steam’s user-review panel showed 93% positive from 3,301 all-time reviews and 75% positive from 16 recent reviews when checked on October 8, 2026. These are live storefront figures, not critic scores, and the recent sample is small and especially likely to change.

Escape Tabletop Games: Psycho Killer: Third Edition - The Card Game, Can You Survive? Fast-Paced Party Game, Ages 16+, 2-6 Players, Amazon Exclusive
  • The psycho killer is on the loose and his unyielding pace is hot on your trail in this fast-paced, crime-meets-party game that pays tribute to retro horror and slasher movies
  • Use your cards to defend yourself or leave your friends for dead!
  • Watch out – when the Psycho Killer shows up, his arsenal of weapons is ready to do some damage
  • After he appears five times, tally up your damage – the player with the least amount of damage wins!
  • Features simple gameplay you can learn in just minutes with infinite replayability

The scores are most useful alongside the game’s design. If you like roaming freely, following cryptic lore, and forming your own interpretation, its structure is a distinctive draw. If you prefer detective games that tightly control clue order and clearly validate one answer, the open-ended trial may be a poor match.

Which platforms and versions are available?

Kaizen Game Works lists releases for PC and Nintendo Switch on September 4, 2020, followed by PlayStation and Xbox on March 16, 2022. Its official platform list includes PC, Switch, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series. The enhanced release added content and improvements, but performance specifications should not be assumed to carry across every platform.

The PlayStation launch post describes visual changes as an effort to polish the island while preserving its recognizable style. These additions complement the original investigation rather than changing its core premise: exploring, questioning, and deciding what to argue at trial.

Who should play Paradise Killer?

  • Play it if: you enjoy open-ended investigations, wandering through unusual settings, piecing together conflicting accounts, and deciding for yourself how to interpret a case.
  • Think twice if: you want a linear mystery, a tightly signposted clue trail, or a trial that confirms one clearly established answer.
  • Choose a version by platform: use the platform that suits your preferred controls and access; only the cited PlayStation details establish specific resolution and frame-rate targets.

Where can you get the game or its music?

Kaizen Game Works links to digital game purchase options for PC and consoles, including Steam, Humble, GOG, Epic, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation Store, and Xbox. Store availability and prices can change, so check the relevant platform storefront for current details. The developer also links to merchandise that includes physical soundtrack products; Steam separately lists the Paradise Killer Soundtrack and Paradise Killer: Art of Paradise as products.
