A Change.org petition calling for Roblox CEO David Baszucki to resign passed 110,000 signatures in less than ten days, according to an Insider Gaming report published August 18, 2025. That is a historical milestone, not the petition’s current count: Change.org’s displayed total changes over time.
Is the petition to remove the Roblox CEO real?
Yes. The Change.org campaign is titled “Remove David Baszucki,” names Roblox as the decision-maker, and lists August 9, 2025, as its creation date. Its supporters call for Baszucki’s removal or resignation and cite concerns about child safety, moderation, and accountability.
Those statements are the petitioners’ allegations, not court findings or independently established conclusions. The page’s “verified” label should not be treated as an independent audit of the signatures or proof that signers represent Roblox users, parents, or the public generally. The petition is available at Change.org.
How many signatures does the petition have?
Insider Gaming reported on August 18, 2025, that the petition had exceeded 110,000 signatures in less than ten days. That figure describes the count at the time of the report. Because the campaign page displays a changing total, it should not be presented as today’s count; search results have also shown different totals at different moments.

Why did the petition go viral?
The campaign gained attention amid criticism of Roblox’s child-safety and moderation practices, including a controversy involving creator Schlep. Insider Gaming also noted a Louisiana attorney general lawsuit as contemporaneous context. A lawsuit contains allegations; mentioning it does not establish that those allegations have been proven.
Roblox’s explanation for removing vigilantes came in a public statement by Chief Safety Officer Matt Kaufman on August 13, 2025. In “More on our Removal of Vigilantes From Roblox”, Kaufman said banned vigilantes had impersonated minors, approached users, and tried to move them to other platforms for sexually explicit conversations. Roblox urged users to submit concerns through its reporting tools with prompt, specific information. Kaufman wrote, “Accurate, timely reporting from our community is important.”

This is Roblox’s stated rationale, not an independent resolution of the dispute about Schlep or a measure of how well the platform’s safeguards work. The scale of the service helps explain why safety and moderation became a public flashpoint: Roblox reported that, as of the quarter ended June 30, 2025, average daily active users sent 6.1 billion chat messages and engaged in 1.1 million hours of voice chat across 28 languages. Those are company-reported activity figures, not evidence for or against the petition’s claims.
What safety changes did Roblox announce afterward?
Age checks for chat
On February 5, 2026, Roblox said age checks were required to chat. The company reported that 45% of its 144 million daily active users had completed an age check; the participation figure describes the seven days ending January 31, 2026. Among age-checked daily active users in that period, Roblox reported 35% were younger than 13, 38% were ages 13–17, and 27% were 18 or older. These are Roblox’s figures, not independently audited estimates. Details appear in the company’s February 5 announcement.

Age-based account types and parental controls
On June 16, 2026, Roblox announced global availability of Roblox Kids and Roblox Select accounts, which use age-based settings and parental controls. The company described these changes in its announcement. The announcements establish that Roblox introduced additional measures after the petition appeared; timing alone does not show that the campaign caused them, or that the wider safety debate has been resolved.

The sources cited here do not establish a resignation, a board action removing Baszucki, or a final court finding on the petition’s safety allegations. The petition itself is a demand for a leadership change, not evidence that one occurred.
