Why the anniversary video stirred speculation
Sony’s September 19, 2024 PlayStation Blog post introduced the 30th Anniversary Collection as a tribute to the original PlayStation and the brand’s history. It notes that the first PlayStation launched on December 3, 1994. The post was an anniversary announcement, not a Bloodborne remake announcement.

On December 3, 2024, MeriStation reported that a separate anniversary video looked back at games across PlayStation’s history and closed with a Bloodborne vignette and the words “It’s about Perseverance.” Fans interpreted that closing as a possible sign of renewed Bloodborne activity. That is a reaction to the video’s presentation, not confirmation that Sony had a new game in development.
Is a Bloodborne remake confirmed?
No remake, remaster, or performance update is confirmed by the evidence available here. The anniversary video’s image and tagline were not an official project announcement.

There is later reporting about a concrete proposal: on February 27, 2026, GameSpot, citing Bloomberg, reported that Bluepoint pitched a Bloodborne remake in early 2025. According to that account, Sony considered the commercial prospects viable, but FromSoftware did not want the remake to proceed. This describes a reported internal pitch, not a game currently announced for release.
FromSoftware’s official Bloodborne listing describes the game but does not announce a remake. The official material cited here does not establish a current direct confirmation or denial from Sony or FromSoftware, so the project’s official status remains unresolved.

What the Bluepoint report does—and does not—tell fans
If accurate, the report means a remake was proposed and reportedly judged commercially viable by Sony, but that FromSoftware did not want it to move ahead. It does not establish that development began, that another studio has taken over, or that a future release is planned. Nor does it confirm that the anniversary video was connected to the reported pitch.
“Remake,” “remaster,” and “performance patch” describe different possible changes: a remake would rebuild the game, a remaster would update an existing release, and a patch could improve technical performance without creating a new edition. None of those options has been announced in the material cited here.

What you can play now
The existing Bloodborne is a PS4 game, first released on March 24, 2015, according to GameSpot. FromSoftware describes its setting as Yharnam, where the player becomes a Hunter and hunts creatures transformed by a local disease.
MeriStation reported that the original game and The Old Hunters were playable on PS4 and PS5 through backward compatibility. That is the existing PS4 release running on PS5, not a PS5 remake or remaster. Check your regional PlayStation Store for current purchase or subscription availability.

For players who want to start while they wait
Look for the original Bloodborne PS4 game. It is the existing release, not a newly announced edition.
