Become Champion, follow the postgame story to the Hammerlocke Energy Plant, and prepare for a level 70 encounter.
Which legendary can you catch in your game?

The other legendary appears during a separate story battle, but that encounter is not a chance to catch it in that version. The ordinary postgame story catch is version-exclusive; owning one version does not let you catch both through that sequence.

How to reach the catch encounter
- Become Champion. The capture is part of the postgame episode, not your early visit to the Slumbering Weald.
- Start and follow the postgame story. The episode involves the Rusted Sword or Rusted Shield, Sordward and Shielbert, and Dynamax-related incidents.
- Continue to the Hammerlocke Energy Plant. This is where the version-specific legendary catch takes place.
- Save before attempting the catch. The encounter is not guaranteed to be caught on the first attempt, so a save gives you the option to retry or choose a different ball.
The postgame story later returns to the Slumbering Weald, but that is a continuation after the Energy Plant catch encounter.
What to expect in the battle
Level and form
Walkthrough guides report that the catchable legendary is level 70 and appears in its Crowned form: Zacian in Crowned Sword form in Sword, or Zamazenta in Crowned Shield form in Shield. The official Pokémon pages identify their signature Steel-type attacks as Behemoth Blade and Behemoth Bash, respectively.
