Nvidia RTX 5060 vs. RTX 5060 Ti: Affordable or More VRAM Headroom?

The RTX 5060 is the budget-first 8GB card; the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB is faster in cited reviews and offers more VRAM headroom. Your best value depends on current local prices, resolution, and games.

If the choice is between the RTX 5060 and RTX 5060 Ti 16GB, the 5060 is the budget-first pick and the Ti is the faster card with more VRAM headroom. Neither is guaranteed to be “future-proof”: the better buy depends on current local prices, your resolution and settings, and whether the games you play benefit from more than 8GB of video memory. The RTX 5060 Ti also comes in an 8GB version, so check the exact configuration before buying.

What are the differences between the RTX 5060 and 5060 Ti?

NVIDIA announced the RTX 5060 at a $299 launch price. The RTX 5060 Ti launched in 8GB and 16GB versions, with announced launch prices of $379 and $429. These are 2025 launch prices, not current retail prices; compare the listings available in your region before deciding which is affordable.

Model VRAM CUDA cores Boost clock 2025 launch price
RTX 5060 8GB GDDR7 3,840 2.50 GHz $299
RTX 5060 Ti 8GB or 16GB GDDR7 4,608 2.57 GHz $379 for 8GB; $429 for 16GB

Specifications and launch prices are from NVIDIA’s April 15, 2025 GeForce News announcement. The RTX 5060 Ti has more CUDA cores and a higher listed boost clock, but those figures alone do not predict how much faster it will be in a particular game.

How much faster is the RTX 5060 Ti?

Independent review results put the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB ahead of the RTX 5060, but the measured gap varies with the game, resolution, and test setup.

  • AI Performance: 767 AI TOPS
  • OC mode: 2632 MHz (OC mode)/ 2602 MHz (Default mode)
  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
  • Axial-tech fan design features a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure
  • A 2.5-slot design maximizes compatibility and cooling efficiency for superior performance in small chassis
  • At 1440p: Ars Technica measured the 16GB Ti about 15–20% faster than the RTX 5060 in its review suite. GamersNexus reported a typical 15–25% lead across its tested 1080p, 1440p, and 4K workloads.
  • Against the RTX 4060: Ars Technica found the RTX 5060 generally 10–25% faster at 1080p and 20–40% faster at 1440p in its test suite. The review notes exceptions, including workloads affected by memory limits.

These are results from specific reviews, not guaranteed gains across every game. Ars Technica tested with Game Ready driver 576.52 on a Ryzen 7 9800X3D system; GamersNexus used its own test setup. Ars Technica did not test the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB, so its results do not establish how that version compares in every workload. See the Ars Technica RTX 5060 review and GamersNexus RTX 5060 review and benchmarks for their test details.

Is 8GB of VRAM enough for gaming?

It can be enough, but it is a constraint to weigh rather than a guarantee of acceptable performance. Some games and settings can run into 8GB limits, particularly with demanding textures or higher resolutions. More VRAM gives the 16GB Ti room for workloads that exceed 8GB, but capacity by itself does not guarantee a specific frame-rate increase: game engine, graphics settings, and the rest of the GPU matter too.

  • Powered by the NVIDIA Blackwell architecture and DLSS 4
  • SFF-Ready Enthusiast GeForce Card
  • Axial-tech fans feature a smaller fan hub that facilitates longer blades and a barrier ring that increases downward air pressure

For a 1080p player on a tight budget, 8GB may be an acceptable compromise if the specific games and settings perform well in independent benchmarks. If you want higher-resolution settings or more room for demanding textures, the 16GB Ti is the more compelling configuration—provided its price premium fits your budget.

Which one should you buy?

Choose the RTX 5060 if budget and 1080p matter most

  • You are targeting 1080p and are comfortable with 8GB of VRAM.
  • Its current price is meaningfully below the 5060 Ti models where you live.
  • Benchmarks for the games you play show acceptable performance at your intended settings.

Choose the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB for more headroom

  • You value the extra VRAM for demanding textures, higher resolutions, or workloads that exceed 8GB.
  • You want the faster option in the cited reviews and can accept the current price premium.
  • You have checked the performance of your own games rather than assuming every title gains equally.

Judge the RTX 5060 Ti 8GB by its actual price

The 8GB Ti sits between the 5060 and 16GB Ti in NVIDIA’s launch lineup, but the name and launch price do not settle whether it is good value now. Compare its current local price with both alternatives, then look for benchmarks of that exact memory configuration in the games you play. The cited Ars Technica review did not test it.

What else should you check before buying?

  • Current local price and stock: The announced launch prices are historical reference points, not a promise of what a card costs today.
  • Exact VRAM configuration: Product listings may refer to an RTX 5060 Ti with either 8GB or 16GB. Confirm the memory capacity in the exact SKU.
  • Game-specific benchmarks: Compare results at your resolution and settings. DLSS Multi Frame Generation can increase displayed frame rates in supported games, but those results are not directly comparable to conventional native-rendering benchmarks; support varies by title.
  • Fit and cooling: Partner-card designs differ in dimensions, heatsink and fan setup, appearance, and outputs. Check the specific card listing against your case clearance and display connections.

NVIDIA’s launch materials position the family around Blackwell, GDDR7, ray tracing, and DLSS 4. Its large performance claims for selected games use Multi Frame Generation and are vendor claims tied to those titles and modes; they should not be read as a general native-rendering performance uplift.
