A rumored Red Dead Redemption 2 upgrade for PS5—and a possible Switch 2 version—could arrive after Grand Theft Auto VI, but Rockstar has not confirmed either edition or a release window. The timing idea comes from an insider-based report, not an announced Rockstar plan.
What is actually known about an RDR2 enhanced edition?
Notebookcheck reported on January 26, 2026, that insider Reece “Kiwi Talkz” Reilly said an RDR2 Enhanced project existed and that he knew developers who had worked on it. That remains an attributed claim, not official confirmation from Rockstar. The reporting also raised the possibility of a Switch 2 version, but Rockstar has not announced that edition either. Notebookcheck’s report is the basis for the claims.

Rockstar’s official Red Dead Redemption 2 page provides information about the existing game; the official material reviewed does not confirm an enhanced PS5 or Switch 2 release. There is no confirmed release date or window to compare.
Why might it come after GTA 6?
Notebookcheck attributed to Reilly the speculation that Rockstar could defer an RDR2 upgrade so it would not compete with GTA VI’s marketing. That is a proposed explanation for possible timing, not a stated Rockstar strategy or evidence that a delay has been decided.

How GTA 6’s current date fits in
Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. That is the date shown on the page as checked October 8, 2026; it is the current listed schedule, not a confirmation of when an RDR2 upgrade might follow.

What players should expect
For now, treat “after GTA 6” as a possibility reported from an insider’s theory—not a release window. Rockstar’s official pages establish the existing RDR2 and the currently listed GTA VI date, but they do not establish an enhanced RDR2 launch for PS5 or Switch 2. The existing RDR2 release should not be confused with the unannounced upgrade.
