Its EvoSwing system and sharper presentation make the golf more engaging, while adjustable difficulty and a flexible MyCAREER give players room to shape the experience. Golf Monthly reviewer Conor Keenan praised those strengths, but also found pitch and chip shots difficult to judge and the launch roster of playable pros thin. The game launched on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam; a Nintendo Switch 2 edition followed on 6 February 2026.
Does the current-generation release feel like a real upgrade?
Yes, particularly in how the game presents a shot and asks you to execute it. The launch edition was released for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam. Those were the platforms named in the original release materials; they did not list PlayStation 4 or Xbox One. Nintendo Switch 2 joined the lineup later, with a release on 6 February 2026.

2K’s feature list emphasizes upgraded graphics and EvoSwing. The platform move is the context for those changes, not proof that the hardware transition alone caused them. Keenan’s 2025 review describes a significant visual improvement and a swing mechanic that feels rewarding, making the result more than a new roster-and-course update in his assessment.
How does EvoSwing change the golf?
EvoSwing is the central gameplay change. 2K says it works with both Swing Stick and 3-Click Swing, and adds shot types, ball flights and roll physics. That gives players two ways to handle the swing while making shot selection and the ball’s response central to play.

Two swing approaches
- Swing Stick: use the analog-stick-based swing input for a more hands-on feel.
- 3-Click Swing: use timed button presses as an alternative to stick execution.
- Perfect Swing: choose a more forgiving option designed to deliver consistent contact, so newer or casual players can concentrate on club choice, lie, wind and shot type.
Keenan found the overall swing experience realistic and satisfying, but his review flags a specific weakness: pitch and chip shots could feel clunky and hard to judge. That distinction matters. EvoSwing makes full-shot execution compelling in his view, but the short game may take adjustment and is not as immediately dependable.
What is included: courses, majors and playable pros?
The game brings PGA TOUR content and licensed major events into its career structure. 2K lists three majors in the initial release: the PGA Championship, U.S. Open and The Open. Those licensed events help give MyCAREER a stronger connection to the real tour calendar.

- PGA TOUR 2K25: AIM FOR GREATNESS
Launch course counts differ by source and should not be collapsed into one figure. 2K’s 2025 announcement says there were 27 licensed courses and events at launch, while Golf Monthly’s review says the game included 29 courses. The sources do not explain the discrepancy or establish that the two counts use the same definition.
The playable-pro roster is clearer but limited: 2K listed 11 featured playable pros at launch, and Keenan likewise noted that only eleven were available to choose from. The reviewer also felt some equipment and clothing were not fully up to date. If you mainly want to play as a wide range of real professionals, that roster is a notable trade-off.

Is MyCAREER deep, and can you control its pace?
MyCAREER is one of the game’s stronger features in Keenan’s assessment. It combines training and pre-tournament activities with dynamic round simulation, letting you choose how much of a tournament to play rather than requiring every hole of every round.
Choose your route and playing time
- Begin in Q-School, on the Korn Ferry Tour or directly on the PGA TOUR.
- Play selected moments of a round, then simulate the remaining holes.
- Adjust difficulty and simulation settings to suit your preferred level of challenge.
- Take part in the licensed major championships and PGA TOUR season as your career progresses.
That flexibility can keep a long career moving without turning every event into a full-length commitment. Keenan also found the mode deep and customizable. His reservations included a rivals feature that felt forced and leaderboard scoring that seemed unrealistic in his first tournaments; those are his impressions, rather than guaranteed outcomes for every player.

What else can you play, and how does multiplayer work?
The course designer lets players create, publish, share and play custom courses, extending the game beyond its included venues. Cross-platform play is supported among PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Steam, according to 2K Support. That is separate from cross-platform progression: 2K says cross-platform and cross-generation progression are not supported, so career progress does not carry between those platforms.
Online features require an internet connection and a 2K account. The Switch 2 announcement specifically says this requirement applies to online features including MyCAREER; offline modes are available on the go. Check the requirements for the platform and mode you intend to use rather than assuming every feature works offline.

The original release announcements give dates that vary by market and access tier: Golf Monthly says the game released on 28 February 2025, while 2K’s ANZ launch page is dated 29 February 2025 locally. Golf Monthly also reports that Deluxe and Legend buyers had seven days of early access beginning 21 February. For that reason, the platform list is more useful than treating one date as a universal launch date.
Who is PGA TOUR 2K25 best for?
- Golf-game players who want a more involved swing: EvoSwing offers a rewarding core according to Keenan, with two input methods and a forgiving Perfect Swing option.
- Career players: MyCAREER offers multiple starting routes, simulation choices and flexible round pacing.
- Players seeking real-tour atmosphere: licensed majors, PGA TOUR content and improved graphics strengthen the presentation.
- Players focused on pros or precise short-game shots: the eleven-pro launch selection is limited, and the reviewer found pitch and chip execution frustrating at times.
Overall, the current-generation version earns its birdie through the swing overhaul, presentation and adaptable career mode. The short-game feel and small launch roster keep it from being a clean sweep, but the documented strengths make PGA TOUR 2K25 a stronger proposition for players who value golf mechanics and career flexibility over a broad selection of playable pros.
