Russian court proceedings targeted ownership interests in three Lesta companies associated with Mir Tankov, Russia’s version of World of Tanks—not the global World of Tanks business. A June 2025 ruling was reported to transfer those interests to the state, but later court-docket entries record further proceedings without revealing the full effect of every order. The available records do not establish that the 2025 ruling was reversed.
What did the Russian authorities pursue?
The case concerned LLC Lesta, LLC Lesta Games Moscow and LLC Lesta Games Agency. RBC reported that the Prosecutor General brought the claim and that, on April 17, 2025, the court imposed an interim freeze affecting the three entities. Lesta said it was working to resolve the matter and operating in accordance with Russian and Belarusian law. RBC also quoted a statement from Lesta’s Telegram channel: “We have not violated anything and have nothing to fear.” That English wording is a translation of the Russian statement.
The freeze was a temporary procedural measure, distinct from the later ruling on the claim. On June 3, 2025, the Tagansky District Court of Moscow granted the Prosecutor General’s claim, RBC reported. According to RBC, the court ordered ownership interests in the three Lesta entities transferred to state income and prohibited what authorities alleged was an association in Russia between Lesta owner Malik Khatazhaev and Wargaming owner Viktor Kisly. The hearing was closed, and the full decision is not reproduced in the cited public reporting; the allegations and reported outcome should therefore be understood with that attribution.
Is this a seizure of the global World of Tanks franchise?
No. The Lesta proceedings concern Russian corporate entities, not a reported transfer of Wargaming’s global franchise or operations elsewhere. Wargaming announced in 2022 that it was leaving Russia and Belarus and transferring local live-games operations to Lesta Studio. It also said Lesta was no longer affiliated with Wargaming and that its operations in other countries would continue as before. The Russian game associated with Lesta is called Mir Tankov.

Later records and reports concern several different proceedings. They should not be treated as if they were all rulings on the same question:

What can be concluded about Lesta’s status?
RBC’s account of the June 2025 judgment supports saying that the court ordered ownership interests in the three named Russian entities transferred to state income. The subsequent docket entries show that related appellate proceedings continued in 2026, but they do not supply enough detail to describe the full present legal position or to say that the ownership-transfer judgment was undone. The termination of a separate debt-collection enforcement proceeding does not answer that question.

The clearest account is therefore limited: Russian authorities pursued Lesta’s Russian corporate assets and ownership interests; the June 2025 claim was reported as granted; and later proceedings changed or addressed other procedural measures, while the available docket extracts do not disclose the full legal effect of every determination.
