The package includes two main modes:
- Story Mode: regional stories and a story of unification, told through battles and relationships among officers.
- Chronicle Mode: travel between regions, take quests, meet officers and collect items.
Those contents are described by KOEI TECMO Europe in its Steam launch announcement and by the publisher on the Steam store page.
How does its combat work?
The series centers on battles between factions and the officers caught up in them. KOEI TECMO says character attack types and the overall progression system were revamped compared with earlier SAMURAI WARRIORS titles. Its launch announcement also highlights the Hyper Attack and Rage systems. These are publisher descriptions, not findings from independent playtesting.

Can you play with a controller or in co-op?
Steam lists single-player, online co-op and shared/split-screen co-op. It also lists full controller support and says the developers recommend a controller. Keyboard-only play is listed as an option, so a controller is not a stated requirement.

The platform confirmed by the cited announcement and storefront is a digital Windows release on Steam. KOEI TECMO Europe’s announcement is dated 14 May 2024, while Steam gives 13 May 2024 as the release date; the two sources therefore show different dates, and neither should be silently substituted for the other. The reviewed information does not establish a full comparison with SAMURAI WARRIORS 4-II, so it is not enough to say how DX differs from that game.
