Metacritic’s Xbox One critic-review page also characterizes it as “a love letter to the animated series and a throwback to classic platform action games of the PS2 era, in the best possible way.” The search result for that page did not identify the reviewer, so the characterization is best left unattributed to a named person.
Familiar action rather than a genre reinvention
Weapon variety is among the cited positives, but the action-platform structure is conventional. The reviews do not establish that the combat or platforming breaks new ground; their strongest case for the game is its connection to the show, not mechanical innovation.

Is Samurai Jack: Battle Through Time worth it?
