A 2024 Games Learning Society guide recommends Pike, Moreau, and Chen as its example Wave Defense crew, with 5 of 11, Kirk, and Spock as an alternative. Those are dated third-party suggestions, not confirmed best lineups for the current mode. Later coverage discusses Duo Wave Defense and updated crewing, so check the live event rules and your officers’ current abilities before choosing a crew.
Wave Defense crews listed in the 2024 guide
Games Learning Society’s 2024 guide recommends a typical hostile-focused crew and gives these examples. It does not provide a current, tested ranking of the lineups.
| Lineup | How the guide presents it |
|---|---|
| Pike, Moreau, and Chen | Preferred example for a typical hostile crew. |
| 5 of 11, Kirk, and Spock | Alternative lineup. |
| JL Picard, Beverly, and Chen | Additional possibility. |
| Operation Ephemeris, Operation Zenith, and Operation Yoyodyne officers | Additional possibilities; the guide says they respectively improve impulse speed, critical hit damage, and critical hit chance in Wave Defense. |
The source does not establish how these options compare in survivability, damage, or effectiveness in today’s mode. Treat the table as a record of that guide’s advice, not a universal ranking. Choose only among officers you have, and check their current in-game ability text against the active event’s rules.
Why older crew advice may not fit your event
A Talking Trek listing from May 2026 covers Duo Wave Defense, updated crewing discussion, strategy, and real-time testing. Its listing confirms newer discussion exists, but does not provide enough detail to identify a definitive current crew or verify what that episode concluded. In particular, do not assume the 2024 guide’s lineups or access thresholds apply to Duo Wave Defense.

- Stunning graphics
- Iconic Star Trek characters, ships and tech
- Fierce battles with players all over the world
Star Trek Fleet Command is a digital game in which players customize fleets and crews and recruit officers, according to Scopely’s game page. For this mode, the relevant variables are your available officers, their present abilities, and the exact Wave Defense version you are entering—not a physical product.
Access thresholds and setup steps in the guide
The 2024 guide reports a minimum level of 30 and availability through level 50 for Borg Research Lab, and a minimum level of 40 and availability through level 60 for S31 Covert Base. It does not confirm that these thresholds remain current, and its wording does not clearly establish how the upper levels work. Check the live game before planning around either gate.

The same source describes this sequence for starting a run; these are its instructions, not verified current UI steps:
- Dock both intended ships.
- Travel to the Wave Defense system with the first ship.
- Summon the second ship there.
- Wait for participants to arrive, then have the team leader start the activity.
If the live event presents different requirements, ship handling, or start controls, follow the in-game instructions rather than the older guide.
