After the Neutral Route battle with Flowey in Undertale, choose MERCY repeatedly if you want his extra dialogue and advice for a later run. After 13 MERCY attempts, Flowey flees. Choosing FIGHT kills him in that scene and skips the advice. Neither choice alone determines whether you can pursue the True Pacifist Route.
What happens if you show Flowey mercy?
Keep selecting MERCY after the battle. The game reference Game Design Lab records that Flowey asks why the protagonist is being kind and then runs away after 13 MERCY attempts. Sparing him gives you advice about what to do on a subsequent run, along with extra dialogue. His advice can point you toward a better outcome, but it does not complete that route for you.
What happens if you fight Flowey?
Choosing FIGHT kills Flowey in the scene. In the described post-battle sequence, you do not get his later advice. The reference also records Flowey’s line, “It’s KILL or BE killed.”

Does this choice affect the True Pacifist Route?
No. This post-battle choice alone does not abort a route or decide True Pacifist eligibility. Sparing Flowey does not erase earlier kills or automatically grant an ending; it changes the scene’s outcome and whether you hear his advice.

If you are curious about what Flowey says or want guidance for a later run, choose MERCY until he leaves. If you would rather finish the scene with FIGHT, you can do so without treating that single decision as a route-ending mistake.
