What resources are on Rana IV?
Starfield Db lists six inorganic resources: Silver, Argon, Benzene, Chlorine, Water, and Lead. INARA’s chemical entries broadly correspond to that set and distinguishes chlorine and water vapor; for a player-facing resource list, the names above are the useful summary. For outpost planning, distinguish a planet-wide resource list from a specific extractable deposit: the listed resources do not mean every landing area contains every deposit. Scan the planet and check the local terrain before committing to a site.

What do you need for a 100% survey?
Game8 lists three flora, four fauna, six resources, and two traits as Rana IV’s survey checklist; INARA agrees on the counts for flora, fauna, and traits. Game8’s Rana IV guide · INARA’s Rana IV profile
There is a difference in how the databases describe life: Starfield Db labels both flora and fauna “Marginal,” while INARA gives counts of three flora and four fauna. Those labels and counts describe different database presentations and should not be treated as equivalent. Starfield Db’s Rana IV entry

Survey the planet in a practical order
- Scan from orbit. Select Rana IV and use the planetary scan before landing. Xbox Wire says an orbital scan can reveal resource locations on the map, helping you choose a landing area. Xbox Wire’s Starfield explorer guide
- Scan surface targets. Use the hand scanner to find and scan resources, plants, animals, and points of interest. Surface scanning is also how you work through the planet’s survey checklist. Xbox Wire’s Starfield explorer guide
- Change biomes when a biome is complete. INARA lists Rana IV’s biomes as Ocean (60%), Frozen Plains (30%), Mountains (5%), and Coniferous Forest (5%). Treat these percentages as a guide to the listed distribution, not a guarantee of where a particular scan target will appear in your playthrough. When the HUD marks a biome complete but the planetary survey is still unfinished, return to orbit and land in a different biome. INARA’s Rana IV profile · Xbox Wire’s Starfield explorer guide
- Visit anomalies for traits. The two listed traits are Aeriform Life and Ecological Consortium. Find and visit surface anomalies to discover planetary traits; the surveying guide describes anomalies as the route to trait discovery. Full planet surveys can provide survey data and an XP reward. The community wiki also reports increased outpost resource production after a full survey; treat that as wiki guidance rather than a guarantee for every current game version. Starfield community wiki’s surveying guide

Rana IV is a potential outpost target if its local deposits match the resource you want, or if you are interested in reported organic production. INARA lists domesticable yields of Hypercatalyst, Structural Material, Metabolic Agent, and Nutrient, as well as the named species Chillhook, Starburst Silkweed, Stunted Pine, Clawback, Cockroach, Spaceroach, and Stingback. These are database-reported leads; verify the specific species and yield in-game if your outpost plan depends on them. INARA’s Rana IV profile

- DISCOVER, COLLECT, BUILD - Explore planets and discover the fauna, flora, and resources needed to craft everything from medicine and food to equipment and weapons. Build outposts and hire a crew to passively extract materials and establish cargo links to transfer resources between them. - LOCK AND LOAD - Space can be a dangerous place. A refined combat system gives you the tools to deal with any situation. Whether you prefer long-range rifles, laser weapons, or demolitions, each weapon type can be modified to complement your playstyle. Zero G environments add a chaotic spectacle to combat, while boost packs give players freedom to maneuver like never before.
Whether the planet suits a particular build depends on the resource you need, where deposits occur, the available biome, and your progression. Xbox Wire notes that outposts can require substantial resources to build, while supporting habitable buildings, resource extractors, and crew-management stations for assigning hired employees.
