Starfield beta update 1.14.68 fixed the loaded-Creations 255 issue and addressed REV-8, quest, gameplay, ship and Xbox display bugs. Here is what the September 2024 beta included—and what “uncapped” did and did not mean.

Starfield’s September 2024 beta update 1.14.68 fixed an issue that limited loaded Creations to 255, added REV-8 fixes, and addressed several quest and gameplay bugs. “Uncapped” refers to that loading issue—not unlimited Creation storage or the removal of every mod constraint. The beta is historical: Bethesda’s public 1.14.70 notes later listed some of the same fixes, and the studio published update 1.16.242 in May 2026.

What did Starfield beta update 1.14.68 change?

EIP Gaming’s September 18, 2024 report on the beta notes dates version 1.14.68 to September 17, 2024. The changes covered the Creation Kit, general stability and presentation, gameplay, quests, ships, the REV-8 vehicle, and an Xbox display-setting issue.

The headline change addressed a bug that limited the number of loaded Creations to 255. Bethesda’s public notes for update 1.14.70, dated September 30, 2024, independently confirm the fix with the wording: “Resolved an issue that limited the number of loaded creations to 255.” That is a correction to the loading problem, not a promise of unlimited storage or proof that all other limits on Creations disappeared. Bethesda’s 1.14.70 notes also corroborate several vehicle and quest fixes.

What changed for Creations and the Creation Kit?

Loaded Creations

The beta report says the update resolved the issue restricting loaded Creations to 255. This concerns how many Creations could be loaded; the report does not say the update gave players unlimited storage or removed every Creations-related restriction.

Creation Kit workflow

The report also lists an automated process for creating models for distant level of detail (LOD) as available in the Creation Kit. This is a content-creation workflow change, not a new player-facing gameplay feature.

What REV-8 fixes were included?

The beta report lists fixes for the REV-8’s controls, display, and behavior. Bethesda’s later public 1.14.70 notes corroborate some vehicle changes, including Set Active behavior, visual effects, Favorites-menu behavior, and nameplates and health bars; they do not independently confirm every beta-specific item below. The public 1.14.70 patch notes are a separate, later update.

  • In Memoriam

Bethesda’s 1.14.70 notes later included multiple quest fixes, but the beta report is the source for this exact list of 1.14.68 quests. Bethesda’s public notes do not establish that every beta bullet was repeated in 1.14.70.

  • General performance and stability improvements were listed, alongside lighting changes, visual improvements, weapon-model fixes, improved headtracking when exiting dialogue, and a camera fix to prevent jostling when jumping.

The notes give no measured frame-rate result or quantified performance benchmark, so the general performance and stability entry should be read as a description of the changes, not a guaranteed numerical improvement.

Were there ship and Xbox display fixes?

Yes. The beta report lists Ship Builder audio and crash fixes, plus a fix for selling ships that could not be sold. It also says an Xbox display-settings issue was resolved: the priority for a 60 fps target no longer reverted to performance.

Is 1.14.68 the current Starfield update?

No. Version 1.14.68 was a beta update reported in September 2024. Bethesda published public update 1.14.70 on September 30, 2024, with some overlapping fixes. Bethesda’s later notes document version 1.16.242 on May 14, 2026. That establishes that later updates followed 1.14.68; it does not establish which version is latest as of October 2026. Bethesda’s 1.16.242 notes provide the later-version reference.
