Yes—mods can make a Starfield playthrough feel far more like a Star Wars game. The broadest option covered here is Star Wars Genesis, a free, fan-made Wabbajack modlist that reshapes many parts of the game. It is a work in progress, not an official Star Wars release, and its current requirements and supported game version should be checked before installation.
What Star Wars Genesis changes
Genesis aims for a system-wide conversion rather than a cosmetic Star Wars makeover. Its project pages describe changes to factions and their storylines, weapons, spacesuits, cities, planets, notable locations, dialogue, sound, music, HUD, props, gameplay balance, and world encounters. The author’s stated goal is a more cohesive role-playing experience with faction paths and new experiences.

Those are the project’s stated scope and aims, not a guarantee that every feature is complete or free of bugs. Genesis is described by its author as a regularly updated, playable work in progress. At the time reflected by the project page, it listed version 8.77 and support for Starfield 1.16.242; both details can change. Check the Genesis project page for current status before you commit to a playthrough.
How to install the full conversion
Genesis is distributed as a Wabbajack modlist. Start with the project’s current installation page and follow its linked, current directions rather than assembling the files yourself.
#1 Best Overall
- Start your journey by customizing your appearance and deciding your Background and Traits
- Venture through the stars and explore more than 1000 planets
- Pilot and command the ship of your dreams.
Do not install the project’s Nexus patch repository as though it were the modlist: its author explicitly warns that those files are patches and configurations, not a standalone collection to install individually. Wabbajack automates much of the download and configuration process. The available installation guide says users without Nexus Premium may have to click through downloads individually.
The detailed guide available for Genesis V4 is explicitly outdated and says V5 is out. Its old instructions should not be treated as current requirements or universal setup steps. In particular, confirm the latest supported Starfield version, storage needs, and launch procedure on the current project instructions before starting.
What PC do you need, and does Genesis work on console?
The available evidence supports the full Wabbajack list on PC; it does not establish that Genesis works on Xbox or PlayStation. A console release for a separate Star Wars mod does not mean the full Genesis list is available there.

- The goal of this epic journey? The answer to humanity's greatest question
The outdated V4 guide specifies Steam Starfield and Windows 10 1809 or Windows 11, recommends an SSD, and lists at least 50 GB of free space—or 200+ GB for users planning to add its optional HD Overhaul. That optional package is described as more than 100 GB of 2–4K textures and may affect performance on weaker PCs. These figures belong to the V4 guide, not verified V5 requirements. Check current requirements and your PC’s available, compatible storage before installing or buying hardware.

The same V4 guide advises disabling automatic game updates until Genesis supports a newer version, keeping installation folders separate, and launching through the configured Mod Organizer 2 instance. Because that guide is outdated, use the current instructions for any version-sensitive setup rather than applying those steps blindly.

Genesis suits players who want a curated conversion that changes many systems. A hand-picked set of standalone mods is a better fit if you want to change a few characters or locations while keeping more of vanilla Starfield. The trade-off is that individual mods can have their own requirements and conflicts to manage.

- TELL YOUR STORY - In Starfield the most important story is the one you tell with your character. Start your journey by customizing your appearance and deciding your Background and Traits. Will you be an experienced explorer, a charming diplomat, a stealthy cyber runner, or something else entirely? The choice is yours. Decide who you will be and what you will become.
- EXPLORE OUTER SPACE - Venture through the stars and explore more than 1000 planets. Navigate bustling cities, explore dangerous bases, and traverse wild landscapes. Meet and recruit a memorable cast of characters, join in the adventures of various factions, and embark on quests across the Settled Systems. A new story or experience is always waiting to be discovered.
- CAPTAIN THE SHIP OF YOUR DREAMS - Pilot and command the ship of your dreams. Personalize the look of your ship, modify critical systems including weapons and shields, and assign crew members to provide unique bonuses. In deep space you will engage in high-stakes dogfights, encounter random missions, dock at star stations, and even board and commandeer enemy ships to add to your collection.
- DISCOVER, COLLECT, BUILD - Explore planets and discover the fauna, flora, and resources needed to craft everything from medicine and food to equipment and weapons. Build outposts and hire a crew to passively extract materials and establish cargo links to transfer resources between them. Invest these raw materials into research projects to unlock unique crafting recipes.
- LOCK AND LOAD - Space can be a dangerous place. A refined combat system gives you the tools to deal with any situation. Whether you prefer long-range rifles, laser weapons, or demolitions, each weapon type can be modified to complement your playstyle. Zero G environments add a chaotic spectacle to combat, while boost packs give players freedom to maneuver like never before.
| Approach | What it changes | Availability and setup | What to watch for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Star Wars Genesis | Broad conversion spanning factions, locations, gear, presentation, and gameplay, according to its author | PC Wabbajack list; use the current project instructions | Work in progress; current requirements and supported game version can change |
| Star Wars Constellation Overhaul | Outfits and appearances for crew members, companions, and Vasco | Its listing includes PC, Xbox, and PS5 versions; outfits can be crafted at an industrial workbench | Star Wars versions conflict with other mods that change Constellation companions or crew NPCs |
| Star Wars POI Faction Expansion | Adds Star Wars faction presence to points of interest | Requires several other Star Wars faction and equipment mods | Compatibility with mods that fundamentally change vanilla POIs is at the user’s risk; some named POI mods need patches for added factions to appear |
Change crew appearances with Constellation Overhaul
Star Wars Unity: Star Wars Constellation Overhaul changes the outfits and appearances of Constellation crew, including companions and Vasco. Its page says the outfits can be crafted at an industrial workbench. The listing notes version 1.2, dated May 20, 2026, updated for the latest Starfield version at that time and adding a PS5 version. Check the page for the current version and platform listing. Avoid pairing the Star Wars versions with other mods that change the same companions or crew NPCs.
Add faction presence at points of interest
Star Wars POI Faction Expansion adds faction presence at points of interest, but it is not a self-contained conversion: it requires several other Star Wars faction and equipment mods. Its page warns that compatibility with mods that fundamentally change vanilla POIs is at the user’s risk, and that some named POI mods need patches for the added factions to appear.

Choosing the right route
- Choose Genesis if you want a broad, curated Star Wars-style playthrough on PC and are willing to follow a large modlist’s version-specific installation instructions.
- Choose individual mods if you want a lighter change, need a platform-specific option, or prefer to keep most of Starfield intact. Verify each mod’s platform listing, dependencies, and conflict warnings.
- Pause before installing if your game has just updated or you are relying on an old guide. Confirm that the modlist supports your installed Starfield version and that your drive meets its current storage requirements.
