Capcom’s Street Fighter 6 gameplay reveal introduced Mai Shiranui as a Year 2 guest character from SNK’s Fatal Fury. The Year 2 announcement originally placed her in Winter 2025; Capcom’s later trailer described individual Fighter Coin purchases and automatic access for owners of either Year 2 pass. Those were launch-era details, not confirmation of today’s prices or pass terms.
What Capcom showed in the Mai reveal
Mai Shiranui is best known as a fighter from SNK’s Fatal Fury series. Capcom’s Year 2 roster trailer presented her alongside Terry Bogard as a guest from that series, and called them among the first guest characters in the main Street Fighter series. Capcom’s Year 2 roster trailer was published June 7, 2024.

The trailer announced a seasonal release window rather than a specific day: M. Bison was listed for Summer 2024, Terry for Autumn 2024, Mai for Winter 2025, and Elena for Spring 2025. Winter 2025 was the planned window at the time of that announcement, not Mai’s eventual launch date.
How Mai’s gameplay connects Fatal Fury and Street Fighter 6
Capcom France describes Mai’s play style as drawing on SNK fighting-game heritage while incorporating Street Fighter 6 mechanics. The reveal therefore positioned her as a recognizable Fatal Fury character adapted to the systems of her guest appearance, rather than simply a character imported unchanged. How Capcom said players could access Mai
In the gameplay trailer description, Capcom USA said Mai could be purchased individually with Fighter Coins. It also said owners of the Year 2 Character Pass or Year 2 Ultimate Pass would receive her automatically when she released. The trailer’s description says “February 5,” but the video listing shows a publication date of February 14, 2025. Those details conflict, so the description alone should not be treated as a verified exact release date. Check the relevant platform store or current Capcom listing for present purchase terms before buying; the trailer does not confirm what is available now.
