If MC Command Center (MCCC) stops working after a Sims 4 update, first compare your game version with MCCC’s official compatibility notes, then check that the update did not disable mods and script mods. If MCCC is detected but errors or its menu is missing, test with MCCC alone to identify a possible conflict.
Check whether your MCCC version supports your Sims 4 update
MCCC compatibility depends on the game version and platform. The official MCCC downloads page lists the available release, while its troubleshooting and compatibility guidance identifies tested Sims 4 versions. Compare those details with your installed game version before changing files or assuming MCCC is broken.
As of October 8, 2026, the public MCCC release listed was 2026.5.0. The official compatibility listing said it had been tested through the Sims 4 patch released September 22, 2026: PC version 1.128.90.1030 and Mac version 1.128.90.1230. These are version-specific details, not a guarantee of compatibility with a later game patch. Check the official pages for current information.
Re-enable mods in Sims 4
A Sims 4 update can turn off mod settings. In the game, open Game Options > Other and check both the general mods option and the script mods option. The official MCCC troubleshooting guide recommends checking these after an update.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errors2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems#1 Best Overall
- 1TB NVMe SSD
- 1280 x 800 HDR OLED display with premium anti-glare etched glass, 7.4" Diagonal display size up to 90Hz refresh rate
- Wi-Fi 6E
- 50Whr battery; 3-12 hours of gameplay (content-dependent)
- Carrying case with removable liner
Check whether the game is loading MCCC
Look at the game’s loaded script-mod list to see whether MCCC appears. If it does not, check both the settings above and where the files are installed. MCCC files should be in the Sims 4 Mods folder, no more than one subfolder deep. If the game still does not detect them, try placing them directly in the main Mods folder and follow the official installation instructions.
If MCCC loads but the menu is missing or errors appear
When MCCC appears in the loaded-mod list but its in-game menu is missing, first verify that the installed MCCC release matches your Sims 4 version. Then check whether another mod or piece of custom content is interfering.

Test with MCCC alone
- Close Sims 4.
- Temporarily move other mods and custom content out of the Mods folder, leaving MCCC in place.
- Launch the game and check whether the problem remains.
- If the issue disappears, add the removed content back in a controlled way to identify an outdated or conflicting item.
Last Exception notifications are often associated with outdated or problematic mods or custom content, but an EA game error can also be involved. A Last Exception does not, by itself, prove MCCC caused the problem. The official troubleshooting guide describes this distinction.
Replace MCCC files without losing your settings
When upgrading MCCC, leave its settings files in the folder; the official MCCC FAQ says settings carry over automatically. Use the latest released version that is appropriate for your game version. If an EA update is known to have caused an MCCC issue, check current announcements or hotfix information as well: installing a newer release is not automatically the answer to every error.

Check OneDrive if saving settings triggers a permission error
If an MCCC error mentions PermissionError and OneDrive while settings are being saved, OneDrive synchronization of the Sims 4 or Mods folder may be interfering. Check whether those folders are being synced and whether Sims 4 can write to them locally. The official troubleshooting guide identifies OneDrive synchronization as a possible cause.

Choose the next check by symptom
| What you see | What to check first |
|---|---|
| MCCC is missing from the loaded script-mod list | Confirm mods and script mods are enabled, then check that MCCC is in the Mods folder at the supported depth. |
| MCCC is listed as loaded, but its menu is missing | Compare the MCCC and Sims 4 versions, then launch with MCCC alone to test for a conflict. |
| Last Exception notifications appear | Investigate other outdated or problematic mods and custom content; the notification does not establish that MCCC is responsible. |
| A settings error mentions PermissionError and OneDrive | Check folder synchronization and local write permissions. |
