The Sims 4’s July 1, 2025 update, titled “Planting Seeds of Enchantment,” refreshed inventory and collection interfaces, redesigned the Notebook, and fixed issues across the base game and several packs. EA released it ahead of the Enchanted by Nature expansion, which the notes said was scheduled to launch July 10, 2025.
The release builds were PC 1.116.202.1030, Mac 1.116.202.1230, and console 2.14. These identify the July 1, 2025 patch, not the game’s current version. EA’s full July 1 update notes list the changes.
What changed in the July 1, 2025 update?
The main player-facing changes were improvements to Sim and object inventories, a more detailed Notebook, and a redesigned household collections interface. The release also included fixes for weather, animations, clothing, pack-specific content, and other gameplay issues.
Inventory sorting and spoiled food
New became the default inventory sort. Players could also sort by Price, Filter, Crafted Quality, or Rarity. The sorting changes applied to object inventories such as fridges and bookcases as well as Sim inventories.

#1 Best Overall
- Requires The Sims 4 & all game updates. For PC, see minimum system requirements for the pack.
- Create Vampires
- Unleash Supernatural Powers
- Escape to Forgotten Hollow
- Live the Immortal Life
Spoiled food became easier to spot: it received a red background and trash icon, and was moved from its original stack into a separate Spoiled stack. Opening that stack still showed the spoiled items.
Notebook redesign
The Notebook gained a roomier layout and category pages with more detail. Badges mark collection discoveries the player has not yet seen, and a back button helps navigate between categories and the main menu. The redesigned Notebook also provides direct access to Household Collections and Sim Stats. On consoles, scrolling was improved to use the right analog stick.

- Develop Parenting Skills – Level up your Sim’s parenting skills to satisfy their child’s needs and influence their behaviors. Gain new abilities through experience and choosing when to discipline bad actions, encourage good behavior, or just let kids be kids.
- Shape Your Sim’s Childhood – The decisions you make influence how your Sim parents and leave a lasting impact on their child’s future. Each choice shapes their personality, affects their traits, influences their family relationships, and guides their path into adulthood.
- Gather your Sim’s family to participate in new activities and spend quality time with each other. Sims of all ages can work together to complete a variety of school projects, express their creativity using construction blocks, or volunteer their time for good.
- Customize your Sims’ looks and their home with new family fashion and build items. Give the kids’ bedrooms extra personality, remodel the kitchen to feel homier, and let your Sims express their sporty or artistic sides with new outfits.
Household collections
Household Collections received a new interface. The Inventory button animates when a new collection item is found.
Highlighted fixes and improvements

Pregnancy issue addressed in the July 16 update
EA later confirmed that performance optimizations in the July 1 patch had introduced Sim pregnancy issues. In its July 16, 2025 update, EA said it reverted those optimizations to address the problem and that pregnancy would work as it had before the July 1 base-game patch. EA also said pregnancy-related mods should return to their pre-update functionality and advised players to check with the relevant mod author for updates. EA’s July 16 pregnancy fixes notes describe that follow-up.
