Why did Valve raise the price?
Valve cited rising memory and storage costs, along with global logistical challenges affecting the consumer-electronics industry. Its May 27, 2026 announcement said: “Steam Deck itself hasn’t changed; these new prices reflect the current state of component costs and other global logistical challenges across the industry as a whole.” Valve did not provide a quantified breakdown of how much each factor contributed.
What you get with each OLED model
Valve lists both OLED tiers with a 7.4-inch HDR OLED display, a refresh rate of up to 90Hz, Wi-Fi 6E, and a 50Wh battery. Its stated gameplay estimate is 3–12 hours, depending on content; this is a manufacturer estimate, not an independent battery test.

- Compare local checkout prices. Valve announced region-specific amounts, so converting the U.S. price may not reflect what you will actually pay.
- Choose capacity based on your library. Both models support microSD expansion, but the built-in storage differs by 512GB.
- Weigh the 1TB extras against the higher price. The etched glass and removable-liner case are the listed additions; the device itself is otherwise described by Valve as unchanged.
- Consider accessories only if you need them. Valve documents USB-C connections for displays and peripherals and sells a Steam Deck Docking Station. They are optional, not part of the price change.
Valve’s OLED page says replacement parts would be coming to iFixit, but that statement does not establish current availability.
