You can find an early gold bar at Lioncrest Manor, northwest of Hernand. Guide-reported directions lead to a hidden compartment beneath the mantel of a lion-headed fireplace. Getting it means sneaking in, wearing a mask for the theft prompt, and avoiding nearby guards.
Where to find the gold bar
Head to Lioncrest Manor, northwest of Hernand. The bar is hidden in a compartment beneath the mantel of the fireplace marked by a stone lion head. This route is reported by PC Gamer, PowerPyx and GamesRadar+; the sources reviewed do not establish whether it still works in the October 2026 game build.

How to steal the bar
- Reach Lioncrest Manor. Travel northwest from Hernand, then circle around to the rear of the manor.
- Enter through a rear window. The guides describe climbing around the back or right side and getting in through a window. Use the rear of the building and its windows as landmarks; their descriptions do not agree on an exact side.
- Find the fireplace downstairs. Go down to the entrance or main hall and look for the fireplace with the stone lion head.
- Prepare for the theft. Extinguish the fire and put on a mask. PowerPyx reports that a mask is required for the steal prompt. Inspect the compartment beneath the mantel until that prompt appears.
- Take the bar and get clear. Check that nearby guards are not watching before stealing. If you are spotted, PowerPyx advises escaping the red search area; detection can lead to arrest.
Controls can vary by platform and may change with patches. PC Gamer lists CTRL on PC and LB on controller for examining, but those bindings are not confirmed across platforms or in the current build.
What the gold bar is worth
PowerPyx reports two different payouts: exchanging the bar at a bank yields 500 silver, while selling it to a merchant yields 190 silver. Bank access has a separate initial cost: PC Gamer reports 100 silver to register an account, and PowerPyx says a deposit box costs 100 silver. Treat these as guide-reported game values, which may vary by version.

PC Gamer also reports that depositing the bar for investment can earn or lose silver depending on RNG and the selected risk profile. It is not a guaranteed profit.

If you would rather pursue crafting, PC Gamer reports a gold-bar recipe found during the Spire of Insight puzzle and access to crafting through Witch’s Lair vendors unlocked in Chapter 3. The described recipe uses 3 Brimstone, 3 Mercury and 10 Silver Ore. PC Gamer also describes a later option involving gold ore and a golden apple, and says a smithy can use 100 gold ore. These routes require more progression or materials than the manor theft; the sources do not provide comparable completion times or yields.
