Thronefall is a single-player strategy game built around a clear daily cycle: build and prepare your kingdom, then defend it at night while taking part in the fighting yourself. Steam’s user reviews were strongly positive in the snapshot accessed October 8, 2026, and the store listed the game at $12.99 in the US. An expansion called Craaghelm was announced for November 11, 2026; that is a scheduled date, not confirmation that it has launched.
What kind of game is Thronefall?
The Steam store describes Thronefall as “a minimalist strategy game where you build a humble kingdom by day and defend it by night.” Its central tension is practical: spend resources on economic growth, fortifications, and troops, then join the defense when the attack comes. You are not only arranging a settlement and watching battles unfold; the store description says you also fight directly.
The listed defenses include walls, barricades, shrines, and towers. Optional mutators let players alter a run, while unlockable weapons and perks add further choices. Steam lists the game as single-player, with GrizzlyGames and Mythwright as developers and Mythwright as publisher. It gives October 11, 2024 as the full release date, after an Early Access release on August 2, 2023. Steam store page.

How much content does the Steam listing include?
The Steam store page lists the following base-game content:

- CHOOSE YOUR PATH – DECISIONS THAT LOCK IN CONSEQUENCES. Every game is shaped by the paths you choose. Decisions change future options, positioning, and survival. Mistakes are not smoothed over – you manage consequences rather than undo them.
- HIGH SKILL, CONTROLLED VARIANCE. There is no dice rolling and no randomness that decides outcomes by itself. However, there is natural variance from card availability. Winning comes from planning, timing, and adapting intelligently to what you have.
- SYSTEM-DRIVEN STRATEGY. Throne is a strategy system first. It is not a narrative role-playing experience and does not rely on pre-written storylines. The game rewards understanding how the mechanics interact and exploiting them deliberately.
- SOLO, CO-OP, AND COMPETITIVE – ONE CORE RULESET. All player counts and modes use the same core mechanics. There is no simplified mode or tutorial variant. Strategic depth is preserved regardless of how you play.
- DESIGNED FOR THINKING PLAYERS. Throne rewards analysis, optimisation, and long-term planning. It expects focus and punishes sloppy play. If you want a casual or story-led fantasy experience, this is not the right product.
- 10 maps
- Nine unlockable weapons
- More than 50 unlockable perks
- Optional mutators

Is Thronefall worth it?
The available facts point to a focused proposition rather than a broad, multiplayer strategy package: a solo game that asks you to make economic and defensive decisions by day and personally help repel attacks by night. Its Steam user-review snapshot is strongly positive, and the store lists a compact set of maps alongside weapon, perk, and mutator unlocks. Whether that loop is worth the listed price depends on how appealing you find repeated build-and-defend play; the rating alone cannot settle that preference.
