Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.60 introduced a Drop 1 2025 experimental toggle for trying gameplay features that were still in development. The release notes, posted 11 February 2025, highlighted Warm and Cold Pig variants, falling leaf particles, and Lodestone changes. These are historical instructions for that release: available experiment toggles can differ by build and change over time.
What was new in Minecraft Bedrock 1.21.60?
The 1.21.60 changelog presented the Drop 1 2025 experimental toggle as the way to test the new gameplay features. Its featured additions were:

- Warm and Cold Pig variants, appearing according to biome.
- Falling leaf particles for most leaf blocks.
- A new Lodestone recipe and Lodestone loot at Ruined Portals.
The update also adjusted world generation, the world-spawn algorithm, profanity filtering on Windows, and the Play Screen. Those changes were not the same thing as the Drop 1 2025 experiment. The Pause Feature, meanwhile, was available only in Beta and Preview “for the time being,” according to the changelog. Read the Minecraft 1.21.60 changelog.
How to test the Drop 1 2025 features
For the 1.21.60 release, Mojang’s instruction was: “Just enable the Drop 1 2025 experimental toggle to test these out!” Treat that as a release-specific direction, not a promise that the same named option remains available in later versions.

- Open the Experiments settings for the Bedrock build you are using and check which toggles it offers. Toggle choices can differ between retail and Preview builds and change frequently.
- For the 1.21.60 features described here, look for the “Drop 1 2025” experimental toggle in a build that provides it, then enable it for a world.
- Use a world copy. Microsoft says enabling experiments on an existing world automatically creates a copy; it also recommends making a copy manually as an extra precaution.
- Expect possible instability. Experimental worlds may crash, break, or fail to work with future updates. A world that has used experimental features cannot be restored to a non-experimental state.
Microsoft’s Experimental Features in Minecraft: Bedrock Edition documentation explains the risks and version-dependent settings. Check the toggle list in your actual build rather than assuming current versions reproduce the 1.21.60 menu.
What changed for pigs?
The update added Warm and Cold Pig variants, each with its own texture and geometry. There is no separate spawn egg: the biome determines which variant appears. The listed temperate biomes keep the same pigs as before.

How did Lodestone crafting and loot change?
The 1.21.60 recipe uses one Iron Ingot surrounded by eight Chiseled Stone Blocks. The recipe unlocks when a player obtains an Iron Ingot or a Lodestone. Lodestones also became loot at Ruined Portals in both the Overworld and Nether.

What else did the 1.21.60 changelog include?
- Pale Gardens: They generate more frequently, are larger overall, and can contain Woodland Mansions.
- World spawning: The world spawn point algorithm was improved.
- Windows profanity filter: A new “Filter Profanity” setting was enabled by default. It could not be changed for child accounts or players who were not signed in.
- Play Screen: A redesigned screen introduced areas for Worlds, Realms, Servers, template creation, and Friends. Its rollout was incremental across platforms, except Nintendo Switch.
Which creator features needed experiments?
The creator features in Microsoft’s 1.21.60 update notes did not require experimental toggles. The notes describe Editor v0.8.5, “The Sculpting Update,” as available on stable builds through the Minecraft Launcher on Windows PC. Named Editor additions included Workbench, Roughen Brush, night vision, Action Bar updates, and fly-speed and compass updates. The same notes say input detection APIs, block item and rendering improvements, liquid detection, and Focus Target camera functionality moved to stable. See Microsoft’s 1.21.60 Update Notes.
