One free scan finds every outdated or missing driver and matches the right update for your exact hardware.Free scan · exact hardware matchIf Battlefield 6 shows a DirectX function error, first note the full error text, then restart your PC and check the game’s minimum requirements. EA says these errors can point to a driver issue, but the message alone does not prove your graphics card is faulty. For DXGI_ERROR_ or DEVICE_HUNG errors, EA specifically recommends a full system restart because a background app can get stuck and trigger this error class.
Start with the exact error message
“DirectX function … failed” is not a single diagnosis. The function name, DXGI code, any device-removed reason, and when the crash occurs—at launch, while loading, or during gameplay—can help distinguish cases. Write down or capture the complete message before trying fixes. In particular, note whether it includes DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_HUNG, DXGI_ERROR_DEVICE_REMOVED, or another DXGI_ERROR_ code.
EA says a Battlefield 6 DirectX error can indicate a driver issue, but that is a possible cause rather than a confirmed explanation for every crash. The error by itself does not show that the GPU has failed.
Try these checks in order
1. Fully restart the PC
If the message contains DXGI_ERROR_ or DEVICE_HUNG, EA recommends restarting the whole system. Save your work and use Windows’ restart option rather than only closing and reopening the game. EA notes that an app stuck in the background can cause this class of error. See EA’s Battlefield 6 error-message troubleshooting.

2. Check Battlefield 6’s minimum requirements
Compare your PC’s hardware and operating system with the current requirements on EA’s Battlefield 6 PC requirements page. EA lists this as a first check for DirectX errors. A PC that does not meet the requirements may have trouble running the game; meeting them, however, does not rule out a driver or software problem.
3. Install pending Windows updates
Check Windows Update for updates waiting to install, then restart if Windows requests it. EA includes pending Windows updates in its general DirectX and EA app troubleshooting guidance. This is a sensible system check, not a guarantee that it will resolve every in-game crash.

4. Check your graphics driver through its official source
Use your GPU manufacturer’s official update tool or website to check for a suitable current driver. EA’s Battlefield 6 launch guidance advises having current GPU drivers installed unless official Battlefield communications say otherwise. Driver compatibility can change, so there is no single driver version that can be recommended as the universal fix. Avoid third-party driver-download sites.
EA’s launch guidance also lists DirectX 12 for Battlefield 6. You can review its launch and PC-spec guidance; check EA’s current support materials for newer notices before relying on launch-era advice.

5. Use the DirectX End-User Runtime only for the issue it addresses
EA’s general DirectX/EA app instructions describe the DirectX End-User Runtime as a way to add missing libraries needed by the EA app. That guidance does not establish that installing the runtime repairs every Battlefield 6 DirectX 12 crash. If you are following this step for missing EA app libraries, use Microsoft’s official DirectX End-User Runtime download rather than an unofficial installer.

Contact EA support through its support contact page if the checks do not resolve the crash. Include the complete error text or a screenshot, when the crash happens, your PC hardware, Windows version, graphics driver version, whether you launch through the EA app or another launcher, and which steps you have already tried. EA’s Battlefield 6 troubleshooting guidance and general DirectX and EA app guidance provide additional official support context.
Do not treat the code alone as proof that you need a new GPU, a repair utility, or a particular driver rollback. The next step depends on the specific error and the behavior of your PC; the checks above do not establish a hardware fault.
