Learn the cues, preserve room to evade, and use exploration or summons if you need more breathing room.
Where to find Rellana
- From the Gravesite Plain starting area, travel north across Ellac Greatbridge to Castle Front.
- At Castle Ensis, look for the drop to the right of the locked main gate. Follow the flooded passage and climb the ladder to get inside.
- Continue through the mostly linear castle route to the Castle-Lord’s Chamber Site of Grace. Rellana is beyond the nearby boss entrance.
Defeating her opens the way north toward Scadu Altus. PowerPyx’s walkthrough describes the route and progression.

How to beat Rellana
Rellana applies close-range pressure with extended melee combinations while mixing in magic projectiles and broad attacks. Focus first on recognizing when a string is still in progress; a brief pause is not necessarily a safe opening. Dodge through or away from attacks as their cues become familiar, and keep enough stamina in reserve to respond to the next move rather than committing every time she pauses.
Watch for the magic greatsword
When Rellana forms a large magic greatsword, she swings forward and follows with a broad spinning attack. The second part can catch a player who dodges the first swing and immediately moves in. Wait to see the follow-up, time another evade, or create enough distance to avoid the sequence. PowerPyx’s guide and a Windows Central guide both identify the sequence as a significant threat.

Keep stamina for ranged magic
Magic missiles and wider Glintstone Arcs can arrive while Rellana is already pressuring you at close range. Avoid treating distance as a safe zone: ranged attacks and her ability to close space still require active evasion. Whether you fight with a weapon or spells, leave stamina available for movement instead of spending it all on extra attacks.
Respond carefully to Twin Moon
For the Twin Moon attack, Rellana rises into the air and creates three blue orbs whose impacts send shockwaves across the arena. The walkthrough recommends jumping over the early waves and watching for the final landing impact. The exact timing can be difficult to read, so use the animation and wave cues rather than assuming one timing will work every time; be ready to evade or jump again as the attack continues.

- Close-range melee: Stay near enough to punish clear recovery windows, but do not force attacks into a long combo. Survival and stamina take priority when she is still swinging.
- Ranged spells: Distance can create chances to cast, but it does not remove the need to dodge. Her projectiles and gap-closing pressure can reach players who rely on staying far away.
- Summons: Spirit Ashes or an available NPC helper can draw some of her attention and create openings. They are optional; fighting alone gives you more control over her focus and movement.
PowerPyx reports that Rellana has high resistance to blue magic and lower resistance to purple magic. Treat that as one walkthrough’s observation, not a universal damage rule or a reason to rebuild a character before trying the fight.
When to prepare more before retrying
If Rellana’s attacks are taking too much health or the fight leaves little room to learn her cues, explore nearby parts of the Realm of Shadow for Scadutree Fragments and Spirit Ash Blessings. PowerPyx also describes magic-negation talismans and summons as possible aids. These are options, not requirements: the cited walkthrough does not establish a mandatory character level or blessing target.
Access and reward
Entering the expansion is separate from reaching Rellana. FromSoftware’s DLC access notice says save data must show Starscourge Radahn and Mohg defeated; then interact with the Cocoon of the Empyrean Site of Grace to enter the Realm of Shadow. PowerPyx lists Rellana’s reward as 180,000 runes and the Remembrance of the Twin Moon Knight.
